Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get into tarot for a while now, but I wanted something that really resonated with me, you know? And as a lesbian, I thought, why not see if there’s a lesbian tarot deck out there? Turns out, there is!
I did some digging around on the internet. I read through some forums and blogs, and looked at a ton of pictures of different decks. It was actually pretty fun! I was mainly trying to see how the cards were laid out and if the pictures, like, spoke to me, if you get what I mean. No need to make it all official. I just wanted something that felt right.
There’s this one called the Pride Tarot, which isn’t specifically lesbian, but it’s all about LGBTQ+ pride and history. It was put together by a bunch of different artists, which is cool. It’s made by U.S. Games Systems, and it was inspired by Pridefest.
I also paid close attention to the ladies in the Major Arcana. You got your High Priestess, your Empress, and folks like that. I wanted to see how they were portrayed, to check if they had that strong, independent vibe that I’m all about. I found some that seemed to be pretty awesome.
- Spent hours browsing online, just getting a feel for what’s out there.
- Checked out reviews on tarot forums to see what other people were saying.
- Looked at tons of pictures of the cards to see if the art style was my thing.
- Focused on how the women in the Major Arcana were depicted.
After doing all this, I think I’m getting closer to choosing a deck. It’s been a fun little project, and I’m excited to finally start learning how to read tarot with a deck that really feels like it was made for me.
