Okay, so, today I wanna talk about my job hunting adventure in the field of psychology. It was a wild ride, let me tell you.

First off, I started by browsing a bunch of job sites. The one I used the most was this site called Indeed. Seemed like everyone and their grandma was posting jobs there. I typed in “psychology jobs” and my location, and boom, a ton of listings popped up.
Then, I started digging deeper. I looked at the job descriptions, what qualifications they wanted, and where the jobs were located. Some asked for a Ph.D. or Psy.D., while others just wanted a Bachelor’s degree. It was all over the place.
I also checked out the American Psychological Association’s website. They have a job board too, and it’s pretty decent. I found some interesting positions at universities and clinics listed there.
There were a bunch of different roles I came across. Clinical psychologists, research positions, some jobs in schools, even a few in business settings. I started to get a feel for what was out there, but it was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.

I remember one listing for a “recruitment student” in Berlin. Sounded kinda fun, but I wasn’t really looking to move that far. And then there were all these requirements, it got pretty complicated with some of these applications.
After a while, I decided to narrow my search. I focused on jobs that matched my specific interests and my level of education. It took a lot of time going through those listings, but it helped me to figure out what I really wanted.
My Personal Experience
I got a call from this place, Northern Light Acadia Hospital, they wanted a full-time clinical psychologist. I was excited, but I didn’t have the Ph.D. they were looking for.
It was a bit discouraging at times. You see all these cool jobs, but then you realize you don’t have the right qualifications. Or you find a job that looks perfect, but it’s in the middle of nowhere. It’s like, come on, can’t a guy catch a break?

- Searched for jobs on several different sites.
- Filtered by keywords, location, and job type.
- Read countless job descriptions.
- Applied for several different positions.
- Got rejected from a few places, but I kept at it.
But you know what? I kept going. I kept searching, kept applying, and kept learning. It’s a tough process, but you gotta stay positive. And finally, I landed a job, a great job. It wasn’t exactly what I originally had in mind, but it turned out to be a perfect fit.
So, that’s my story. It wasn’t easy, but I made it through. And if I can do it, you can too. Just keep your head up, keep searching, and don’t give up on finding that dream job. You got this!
