First, I checked out their website and read up on what they offered. It’s a Bachelor of Science, which I liked because it sounded pretty comprehensive. They cover a bunch of different areas in psychology, which was cool because I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to specialize in yet.

Then, I dug a little deeper into the requirements. You gotta have at least a ‘C’ in a couple of intro courses, PSYC 101 and PSYC 225/225L. That seemed pretty standard, so I made a note to keep my grades up.

I also noticed that Coastal Carolina seems pretty serious about making sure everyone feels included. They have this whole policy against discrimination, which I think is really important. It just made me feel like it’s a place where I could be comfortable, you know?

After that, I started thinking about what I might do with a psychology degree from Coastal. There are so many options! I could go into research, counseling, or even something like human resources. It’s a bit overwhelming, but also exciting.

  • Considering the general psychology major.
  • Thinking about the average student debt.
  • Comparing with the University of South Carolina’s program.

I haven’t made any final decisions yet, but exploring the psychology program at Coastal Carolina has been a good experience. It’s definitely a solid option, and I’m glad I took the time to look into it.

My next step

is to maybe visit the campus and talk to some current students. Getting a feel for the place in person is probably a good idea. I guess, in general, doing this exploration has helped me narrow down my college choices and think more seriously about my future. Also, I want to see if it really suits me. Hope this sharing is useful to others.
