Okay, so I want to talk about my journey getting into the psychology program at CSU Fresno. Let me tell you, it was a ride.
First off, I applied to Fresno State, also known as California State University, Fresno. You know, the home of the Bulldogs. I’d always been interested in psychology, so when I was filling out the application, I made sure to tick that “psychology major” box. I remember thinking about all those courses I could take – cognitive, developmental, abnormal, even cultural psychology. It all sounded so cool!
After I submitted my application, the waiting game began. I was constantly checking for updates. Finally, the acceptance letter arrived! I was in! But that was just the first step.
Next, I had to meet with the Advising Resource Center, the ARC. They’re the folks who help psychology students figure out what classes to take and all that jazz. I scheduled an appointment and went in, feeling a bit nervous but mostly excited.
- I met with an advisor who was super helpful.
- We talked about my interests and what I hoped to do with a psychology degree.
- They helped me map out a plan for my first year.
I also learned that Fresno State has some pretty sweet facilities for psychology students. There’s a whole building dedicated to it, with labs and research spaces. It’s not just classrooms, you know? You can actually get hands-on experience.
Graduate Program
Then there’s the graduate program. I’m not there yet, but I found out they offer a Master of Arts degree with different specialties. So, that’s something I’m keeping in mind for the future.
The whole process was a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest. There were definitely moments of uncertainty, but overall, it was exciting to take each step towards studying psychology at Fresno State. I am glad I chose it finally. And now, I’m here, taking classes, meeting new people, and learning a ton. It’s been a great experience so far, and I’m stoked to see what the rest of my time here brings.
