Okay, so, I was digging through some old stuff, and I found this cool thing called “Star Trek Horoscope 1966”. It got me thinking, why not try to recreate it? Make it a fun little project, right? First, I needed to find out what this thing actually was. So, I hit up the internet, did some searching.
Turns out, it is some kind of old magazine about Star Trek with horoscopes. Sounds pretty niche, but hey, I’m into it. I started by looking for images of this thing online, wanted to see how it looked. Found a few, not a lot though, they were kinda grainy and old-looking, of course. But good enough to get an idea.
Next, I thought about the content. What kind of horoscopes would they have had back then? I decided to make up some of my own, based on the Star Trek characters. Like, for Captain Kirk, something adventurous and bold. For Spock, something logical and analytical. You get the idea. I jotted down some ideas, trying to keep it in the spirit of 1966.
- Captain Kirk: Your leadership will be tested, you may take a risk.
- Spock: It is not logical to be illogical, your mind is your best weapon.
- Dr. McCoy: Your heart leads you to a new level of empathy.
Then, the design. I wanted to make it look like it was from the 60s. Picked some retro-looking fonts, the kind you’d see on old posters. Played around with the layout, trying to make it look like an old magazine. It was a bit tricky, I’m no graphic designer, but I managed to put something together that looked halfway decent. The whole layout was pretty simple. Bold text at the top for each character and the horoscope under it, with some lines to seperate each.
I also added some Star Trek-related images, like the Enterprise and some of the characters. Found some online, they were all old and pixelated, but that added to the charm, I guess. I wanted it to look like something you’d find in a dusty old box in the attic.
Putting it all together
Putting it all together was the fun part. I used a simple image editor, nothing fancy. Just arranged the text and images, tweaked the colors a bit, and voila! My very own “Star Trek Horoscope 1966” was born. It was not perfect, but it was mine. I printed a copy, just for kicks, and it looked pretty cool. Maybe I’ll make more of these, it was a fun little trip down memory lane. Or, well, to a time I never experienced. But you know what I mean.
It might not be exactly what it was in 1966, but it is fun to do. I am not a professional designer or writer, but this was a nice way to spend an afternoon. If you are into Star Trek or just want a little creative project, give it a try. It is not every day you get to make your own vintage horoscope. And share with your friends. They might even have some old Star Trek stuff you can borrow for inspiration. My neighbor did!
