Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into this Vedic astrology synastry thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I wanted to share my whole process, bumps and all, because it’s definitely not as straightforward as some websites make it seem.

First, I had to figure out my own Vedic chart. Forget everything you know about Western astrology – your sun sign probably isn’t your sun sign in Vedic astrology. I used one of software to calculate mine. Took a bit of Googling to understand what all the terms meant (like, what even is a “nakshatra”?).
Finding the right birth data was the first hurdle. You need your exact birth time and location, down to the minute. I had to dig up my birth certificate for that one. Then, I needed the birth data of the person I wanted to compare charts with. Luckily, they were also curious, so getting their info wasn’t too awkward.
Diving into the Houses
Once you have the two * have to Learn about houses.

- First house: Self
- Second house:Family, possesion,wealth etc.
- so on until 12th house.
Once I had both charts, the real fun (and confusion) began. I started looking at the planetary placements in each chart, and their aspects to each other. This is where things get really intricate. You’re not just looking at, say, “Venus in Libra” – you’re looking at how that Venus interacts with the other person’s planets, what house it’s in, and a whole bunch of other factors.
I started by focusing on the Moon signs, because I read somewhere that the Moon is super important for emotional compatibility. My Moon is in one, and their Moon is in different, which apparently means,it can be challenging sometime! But then I looked at the aspects between our Moons, and it turns out they’re actually pretty harmonious. See? Complicated.
Then I moved on to the 7th house, which is all about partnerships and marriage. I checked which planets were in our 7th houses, and how those planets aspected each other. Honestly, this part made my head spin a little. There are so many combinations and interpretations, it’s easy to get lost in the details.
I tried to keep things organized by taking notes on each significant aspect I found. I made a little chart (a paper one, because I’m old-school like that) with columns for “Planet,” “Aspect,” “Interpretation,” and “My Thoughts.” That helped me keep track of everything, and also gave me space to jot down my own intuitive feelings about each connection.

The biggest takeaway so far? Vedic synastry is not about predicting the future or labeling a relationship as “good” or “bad.” It’s about understanding the energies at play, the potential strengths and challenges, and how two people can best navigate their connection. It’s more like a roadmap than a fortune cookie.
I’m still learning, and I’m definitely not an expert. But this whole process has been fascinating. It’s given me a new perspective on my relationship, and it’s also made me appreciate the depth and complexity of Vedic astrology. If you’re curious, I definitely recommend giving it a try – just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve!
