Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with tarot cards lately, and my best friend is getting married. Boom! Idea: tarot card wedding invitations. It seemed super cool and unique, but also kinda… intimidating. I mean, where do you even start?
First, I spent like, a whole weekend just browsing online. I looked at tons of different tarot decks to get a feel for the art styles I liked. Some were super traditional, some were really modern and minimalist, and some were just… weird. I knew I wanted something that felt elegant, but also a little bit mystical.
Finding the Right Cards
- I decided to focus on the Major Arcana, because those cards have the most iconic imagery.
- I figured The Lovers card was a no-brainer for the main invitation. Obviously.
- Then I picked a few other cards that felt relevant, like The Sun (for happiness), The Star (for hope), and maybe The Wheel of Fortune (for, you know, taking a chance on love!).
Next, I needed to figure out how to actually, you know, make these things. I’m not an artist, so I knew I couldn’t draw them myself. So, I started looking for artists.
It was actually harder than I thought! It took me a few weeks, after much searching finally I found an artist who did a lot of artwork.
I emailed back and forth with the artist, sending her tons of reference images and explaining the vibe I was going for. We talked about colors, fonts, and all that stuff. She sent me some initial sketches, and I gave her feedback, and we went back and forth like that a few times until it was perfect.
Once the artwork was finalized, I needed to get them printed. So I found the print shop online that many people recommended. Then, I chose a nice, thick card stock that felt substantial and luxurious. I ordered a sample pack first, just to make sure the colors looked right and the paper felt good.
Finally, I designed the actual wording for the invitations, keeping it simple and elegant. I used a font that matched the style of the artwork, and I made sure to include all the important details (date, time, location, etc.).
After the artwork arrived, I put together all the invitation, added some finishing touches, and sent all the invites to my friend. And my best friend? She absolutely loved them. Said they were the most unique and beautiful invitations she’d ever seen. Success!
