Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into tarot cards for a while, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I’m a big fan of ancient Egypt, so I thought, why not combine the two? That’s how I ended up diving headfirst into an Egyptian-themed tarot deck.

Finding the Right Deck
First things first, I needed to find a deck. I spent a good few hours just browsing online, looking at different artwork and styles. Some were super traditional, others were more modern, and some were just…weird. It’s funny how many variations there are!
I finally settled on a deck that had this really cool, classic Egyptian look. The artwork really drew me in – lots of gold, hieroglyphs, and those iconic Egyptian gods and goddesses. It felt authentic, you know?
Unboxing and First Impressions
When the deck arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I ripped open the package and…wow. The cards felt great in my hands, not too flimsy, not too stiff. The colors were even more vibrant in person. I spent a good hour just flipping through the cards, admiring the artwork and getting a feel for the imagery.
Learning the Basics
Of course, just having the cards isn’t enough. I needed to learn how to use them. So, I started with the basics. I got myself a guidebook that came with the deck– it explained the meaning of each card, both upright and reversed. It’s a lot to take in! Major Arcana, Minor Arcana… so many details!

- Major Arcana: These are the big, powerful cards, like “The Pharaoh” (instead of “The Emperor”) and “The Nile” (instead of “The Chariot”).
- Minor Arcana: These are more like everyday life cards, divided into four suits: Scarabs (like Pentacles), Ankhs (like Cups), Was Scepters(like Wands), and Swords.
Doing My First Reading (It Was a Mess!)
I decided to try a simple three-card spread for my first reading: Past, Present, Future. I shuffled the cards (probably not very well, to be honest), laid them out, and then…blanked. I had to keep flipping back and forth between the guidebook and the cards, trying to piece together a meaning.
It felt pretty clunky, and I’m sure I got a lot of it wrong. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right?
Practicing and Getting Better (Slowly)
Since then, I’ve been practicing a little bit each day. I’ll pull a single card in the morning and try to interpret it, or I’ll do another three-card spread for a specific question. I’m starting to get a little more familiar with the cards, but I still have a long way to go.
I also found some online resources, forums and stuff, where people share their interpretations and experiences. It’s helpful to see how other people connect with the cards.

Still a Beginner, But Having Fun!
So, that’s where I’m at with my Egyptian tarot journey. I’m definitely still a beginner, but I’m enjoying the process of learning and exploring. It’s a fun way to connect with my interest in ancient Egypt, and it’s also a surprisingly good tool for self-reflection. Who knew?
I might even update this later on, when I have gotten better and have some actually helpful insights. Wish me luck!
