Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “orbs” term thrown around in astrology circles, and honestly, I was a bit lost. I mean, I get the basics of astrology – Sun signs, Moon signs, rising signs – but orbs? That was new territory. So, I decided to do a little digging and figure out what the heck they’re all about.

First, I hit up some of my usual astrology websites. You know, the ones with the daily horoscopes and the birth chart calculators. I started reading articles and scrolling through forums, trying to piece together a definition.
It turned out, orbs are basically about how close planets need to be to each other in a birth chart for their energies to really click. It’s like, if two planets are within a certain number of degrees of each other, they have a stronger connection. That connection is called an aspect. So, the orb is like the wiggle room, the margin error around the aspect.
Think of it like magnets. If they’re close enough, they snap together. If they’re too far apart, they don’t have much of an effect on each other. Orbs in astrology are kind of like that “close enough” zone.
Different astrologers seem to have different ideas about how wide or narrow these orbs should be. Some are super strict, only allowing a few degrees of separation, while others are more lenient. So I decided to experiment a bit with my own chart.

I pulled up my birth chart and started looking at the aspects. Used an online tool and played with some aspect tables to see the differences.
- I noticed some aspects had a super tight orb, like only 1 or 2 degrees. Those felt pretty significant, like major themes in my life.
- Then there were some with wider orbs, like 6 or 7 degrees. Those felt a bit more subtle, maybe influencing me in the background.
It will all take time to fully understand what I have *, for now, my plan is just to pay more attention to the orbs in my chart and see how they seem to play out in my life. It’s kind of like learning a new language – you have to immerse yourself in it to really get it.
