Okay, so the other day, I got it into my head to do a tarot card reading about marriage. I’ve been messing around with tarot for a while now, just for fun, you know? But I’d never really done a focused reading on something as big as marriage before. Thought it might be interesting, so I went for it.

Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed my deck. It’s a pretty standard Rider-Waite deck, nothing fancy. I made sure I was in a quiet space, you know, minimal distractions. Lit a candle, because, why not? It sets a mood. Then I shuffled the cards while I thought really hard about the whole concept of marriage – my own feelings about it, what I hope for in the future, all that jazz.
The Spread
I decided to go with a simple three-card spread. You know, one card for the past, one for the present, and one for the future related to marriage. It seemed like a good way to get a general overview without getting too bogged down in details.
- Past: I pulled the Three of Cups. That card is all about celebration, friendship, and community. It kind of made sense – my past experiences around marriage have mostly been about joyful celebrations with friends and family.
- Present: The Two of Pentacles popped up. This one is usually about balancing priorities, juggling things, maybe feeling a bit overwhelmed. It resonated with me. Right now I do feel I am in the process of balancing.
- Future: The Lovers. Whoa. That’s a big one, right? It can mean a significant relationship, a major decision, or aligning your values. I’m not gonna lie, that card gave me a little thrill.
Putting it Together
I spent some time just looking at the cards, letting the images and their meanings kind of sink in. With The Lovers, I thought it will be a major decision. I don’t know when I will be faced it.
I mean, it wasn’t like a crystal ball or anything. The cards didn’t tell me, “You’re going to meet your soulmate on a Tuesday in October.” It was more about getting me to think about marriage from different angles and to consider what it really means to me. It was more about reflection, and I guess that’s the real point of tarot anyway, right?

It was a fun little experiment. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re curious about tarot or just want to spend some time thinking about a big topic in a new way.
