So, I decided to try this whole “understanding myself better” thing. You know, dive into my own head a little. I figured, why not try keeping a record of my reactions and feelings to stuff? It sounded kinda interesting, so I just went for it.

Getting Started
First, I just grabbed a notebook and pen. Nothing fancy, just something I could easily jot things down in. I didn’t want to overthink it, so I started by simply writing down whatever I was feeling at different points in the day. Like, “Felt pretty good after that walk,” or “Super annoyed by that meeting.” Just basic stuff.
The Process
- Noticed patterns: After a few days, I started to see some patterns. Like, I always felt stressed before certain calls, or I was generally happier on days I exercised.
- Asked “why?”: Then, I began to dig a little deeper. Instead of just writing “angry,” I’d ask myself why I was angry. Was it really that one thing, or was it something else building up?
- Tried changing things: Once I had a better idea of what was triggering certain feelings, I tried to make small changes. Like, if I knew a meeting was going to stress me out, I’d try to prepare more, or take a few deep breaths beforehand.
It’s not always easy though. Some days I’d forget to write anything down, or I just didn’t feel like it. But, I am trying not to be too hard on myself. It’s a process, right?
What I’ve Achieved
Honestly, the biggest thing I’ve realized is that I’m way more in tune with my own emotions now. I can catch myself getting worked up about something and take a step back before I react. It’s like I’ve given myself a little instruction manual for my own brain. The whole practice has made me more mindful and more likely to stop the bad emtions.

It’s still a work in progress, of course. But I’m finding it pretty helpful, and it’s kinda cool to see how my own mind works. Maybe you should give it a shot sometime! It might be helpful.
