Okay, so I decided to dive into “Experience Psychology” by Laura King. I’ve always been curious about psychology, but never really got around to seriously studying it. I figured this book might be a good starting point.

Getting Started
First, I just grabbed the book. No big plan, just started reading the first chapter. It was all about the basics, what psychology is, the different fields, that kind of stuff. Honestly, it was a little dry at first, but I pushed through.
Taking Notes, Making it Real
I’m not a student or anything, so I wasn’t about to take super detailed notes. But I did start jotting down some key ideas and things that I thought were interesting in a little notebook I had lying around. Just to help me remember.
Then, I tried to connect what I was reading to my own life. Like, when they talked about different research methods, I thought about how I could see those methods being used in, like, everyday news articles about studies. I even recall some specific studies that were mentioned on TV.
Making it More Practical
- I try to find and see the examples in my life.
- When I see a new word, I will try to understand it with the context.
Digging Deeper (Sometimes)
Some parts were more interesting than others. When I hit a section that really grabbed my attention, I’d sometimes go online and read a few articles about it. For example, there was a part about cognitive biases that I found super interesting, so I did find something more pratical to read and understand it.

The End Result (So Far)
I’m not finished with the book yet, it will take me a few weeks I think. But so far, it’s been pretty cool. I’m actually learning some stuff! And it’s making me think about things in a new way. I’m not saying I’m going to become a psychologist or anything, but it’s definitely been an interesting experience so far.
