So, I’ve been meaning to get my tarot deck in order, you know, for easier readings and just generally knowing where everything is. I finally got around to it today, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.

First, I cleared off my desk. Gotta have a clean space, right? I laid out a nice cloth, the one I usually use for readings, just to set the mood. Then, I grabbed my deck – it’s a standard Rider-Waite, nothing fancy, but it’s mine and I love it.
I started by separating the Major Arcana from the Minor Arcana. That was easy enough. The Major Arcana, those are the biggies like The Fool, The Lovers, The Tower… you get the idea. I put those in a pile to the side.
Then came the Minor Arcana. Oh boy. This is where it got a little tedious. I divided them into suits: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Each suit has cards numbered Ace through Ten, plus the Page, Knight, Queen, and King. So, I made four piles, one for each suit.
Next, within each suit, I put the cards in order, Ace to King. This took a while, flipping through each card, making sure I got it right. My eyes started to cross a little, not gonna lie.

Once I had the Minor Arcana sorted, I went back to the Major Arcana. Those, I put in numerical order, starting with The Fool (which is 0) and ending with The World (which is 21). Again checking the roman numerals at the top/bottom of each card to avoid any mix-ups.
Finally, I stacked the Major Arcana on top of the Minor Arcana, with the suits in Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles order. That’s the order I see most often, so it made sense to me.
The most important step? Making sure they are all facing the same direction.
And that was it! My deck is now nicely organized. It feels good to have it all neat and tidy. Now, when I want to do a reading, I won’t have to fumble around looking for the right card. It’s all ready to go!
