Okay, so I’ve been getting really into tarot lately. Like, REALLY into it. And one thing that kept bugging me was the size of the cards. My first deck was a standard Rider-Waite, and honestly, it felt a little…clunky in my hands. I have kinda small hands, you see.

So, I started my quest. My mission? Figure out this whole tarot deck size thing.
The Deep Dive (aka Googling Frantically)
First, I hit up Google. I mean, where else do you go when you need to know everything about anything? I typed in things like “tarot card sizes,” “small tarot decks,” “pocket tarot,” and probably a dozen other variations. I found that were a ton of different sizes out there.
- Stand Size
- Bridge Size
- Mini Size
- Pocket Size
- Oversized
I quickly realized I needed a more hands-on approach. Reading about sizes is one thing, but actually feeling them is totally different.
The Experiment
My next step? Ordering some decks! (Don’t tell my bank account.) I decided to get a variety. I ordered:

- One standard Rider-Waite (again, for comparison).
- A “mini” deck.
- A “pocket” sized deck, which is even smaller!
When they arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I ripped open those packages and started shuffling. I laid them out, side-by-side, to really see the * standard one, as I remembered, felt a bit big. The mini was definitely better, easier to handle. But the pocket-sized deck? That was the winner!
It fit perfectly in my hands. I could shuffle it easily, without cards flying everywhere. It felt…right.
My “Aha!” Moment
It was then that I realized – it’s not just about the size of the cards. It’s about how they feel when you’re using them. It’s about the connection you have with your deck. And for me, that connection was strongest with the smaller, pocket-sized deck.
So, if you’re struggling with your tarot cards feeling too big or too small, don’t be afraid to experiment! Try different sizes. See what feels good in your hands. You might be surprised at what you discover.

Now if you see me with this small deck, don’t think I am not serious about tarot. It’s all my experience!
