Alright, let’s talk about them different tarot decks, you know, the cards folks use to tell fortunes and such. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two, and I’ve heard folks talk about these cards plenty.
Now, from what I gather, there’s a whole bunch of ’em. Like, more than you can shake a stick at! Some say there’s like, 50 or so real important ones, the ones everybody and their grandma uses. I don’t know about all that, sounds like a lot of fuss to me.
But, there’s a few that keep comin’ up in conversation. People keep jabberin’ about the beginner decks. I guess them’s the easy ones, for folks just startin’ out. Makes sense, I reckon. You gotta learn to walk before you can run, right?
- Then there’s this Rider Waite tarot deck. This one, they say it’s the most popular. Everybody seems to know it. Must be somethin’ special about it, I figure. They also call it the Waite-Smith or Rider-Waite-Smith, or even just Rider Tarot. Too many names if you ask me, makes my head spin.
- And then there’s this Thoth tarot deck. This one sounds fancy, and folks say it’s kinda complicated. Crowley and Lady Harris, that’s who made it, apparently. Not my cup of tea, all that complicated stuff. I like things plain and simple, like good ol’ bread and butter.
Now, they tell me there’s these old, old decks too. Like, the Marseilles deck. They say it’s the oldest one we know about. Imagine that, somethin’ that old still bein’ used! Must be some powerful juju in them cards.
And it ain’t just tarot cards, no sir. There’s other cards too, like them Lenormand decks and oracle cards. I ain’t sure what the difference is, to be honest. Seems like a whole lot of cards to keep track of. But they all do the same thing, I guess, try to tell you what’s gonna happen or give you some advice.
They say a regular tarot deck has 78 cards. That’s a whole heap of cards! They split ’em up into two groups, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. Don’t ask me what that means, it’s just fancy talk as far as I’m concerned. But I hear the Major Arcana is the important ones, the big shots.
Anyways, from what I hear, finding the right deck is important. It’s like findin’ the right pair of shoes, gotta fit just right. Some folks like the pretty pictures, some folks like the old-timey feel, and some folks just go with whatever their gut tells ’em.
And it ain’t just about the deck neither. It’s about the person usin’ ’em. You gotta have a feel for it, you know? You gotta be able to listen to what the cards are tryin’ to tell you. It ain’t no magic trick, it’s about intuition and understandin’. At least that’s what they say.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ into this tarot stuff, don’t be scared. Just find a deck that speaks to you, and start learnin’. There’s plenty of books and folks out there who can help you. And who knows, maybe you’ll be able to see the future, or at least get a little bit of guidance in your life. Or maybe you’ll just end up with a pretty deck of cards, nothin’ wrong with that neither.
But remember, don’t go makin’ big decisions just based on what some cards tell ya. Use your own head, that’s what the good Lord gave it to you for. The cards are just there to help, not to boss you around.
So there you have it, my two cents on them different tarot decks. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, but I hope this helps you understand a little bit more about ‘em. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper.
