Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Angela Merici and her mass times. I ain’t no scholar or nothin’, but I heard tell she was a real good woman, way back when.
Who was this Angela Merici anyway?
From what I gather, this Angela, she lived a long, long time ago, back in the 1400s. Yep, that’s right, hundreds of years ago! They say she was born over in Italy, in a place called Desenzano. Folks say she started somethin’ called the Ursuline order, a bunch of women who wanted to teach young girls about God. Imagine that! Teachin’ girls way back then!
Now, I ain’t sure what visions she had, but they say she saw things that made her want to help them young’uns learn about bein’ good Christians. She didn’t go around doin’ no fancy miracles or nothin’, just plain teachin’ and helpin’ folks.
Findin’ the Mass Times
Okay, so you wanna know about the mass times, right? Well, that’s where it gets a bit tricky, see? ‘Cause there’s a bunch of churches named after this Angela Merici woman. It’s like havin’ a whole bunch of John Smiths in one town, ya know?
- Saint Angela Merici in Missouri City, Texas
Now, this one, they got a church down in Missouri City, Texas. Big place, I hear. You can find it on somethin’ called Sienna Ranch Road. They got mass on Saturdays, at 8:30 in the mornin’ and then again at 4:00 in the afternoon. On Sundays, you got more choices: 7:30, 9:00. They also got that confession thing, where you tell your sins. But I ain’t gonna get into that.
- Saint Angela Merici in Florissant
Then there’s another one in a place called Florissant. Don’t ask me where that is, I ain’t never been. But they got mass too. Saturday evening at 5:00 PM, and then on Sunday at 7:30 and 9:30 in the mornin’.
- Saint Angela in Metairie
And if that ain’t enough, there’s a Saint Angela in Metairie. Saturdays they got a vigil mass at 4 in the afternoon. Sundays, well, they got a whole bunch: 8:00 am, 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and even one at 5:00 pm. And if you’re an early bird, they got mass durin’ the week too, Monday to Friday at 6:15 in the mornin’. That’s mighty early, if you ask me.
So, How Do You Know Which One?
See, that’s the thing. You gotta figure out which Saint Angela Merici church you’re lookin’ for. Maybe you gotta ask around, or look it up on that internet thingy the youngsters are always talkin’ about. They say you can find anythin’ on there.
Why Go to Mass Anyway?
Now, some folks might ask, why bother goin’ to mass at all? Well, I reckon it’s about connectin’ with somethin’ bigger than yourself. It’s about community, about bein’ with other folks who believe the same things you do. And maybe, just maybe, it’s about rememberin’ that woman, Angela Merici, and how she tried to make the world a better place, one little girl at a time.
It ain’t always easy, you know?
Life throws ya curveballs. Sometimes you feel lost and alone. But goin’ to church, hearin’ the words, singin’ the songs, it can give ya a little bit of hope. It can remind ya that you ain’t alone, that there’s somethin’ out there watchin’ over ya. At least, that’s what my old pappy used to say. God rest his soul.
So, whether you go to Saint Angela Merici in Missouri City, or Florissant, or Metairie, or some other place altogether, I reckon it don’t matter all that much. What matters is that you find a place where you feel welcome, where you can connect with somethin’ bigger than yourself, and where you can remember the good folks who came before us, like that Angela Merici woman.
Just remember to check the times, though! You don’t wanna show up when everyone’s already gone home, now do ya?
