Well, let me tell ya, numbers, they’re everywhere, like them pesky flies in the summer. Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em, I always say. You see, numbers are important, just like knowin’ how to plant corn or when to slaughter the pig.
First off, you gotta know your numbers if you wanna buy somethin’ at the store. How else you gonna know if the shopkeeper ain’t cheatin’ ya? Gotta count them eggs, make sure you got a dozen, not eleven. And money, oh boy, that’s all numbers. Gotta know how much you got, how much you spendin’, or you’ll be broke before you know it.
- If you go to the market to buy somethin’, you need to know the price, right?
- If you sell your eggs, you need to count how many eggs you have and how much you sell them for.
We use numbers every day, even without thinkin’ about it. Like, when you’re cookin’, you need to know how much flour, how much sugar. Too much salt, and your food’s gonna taste like the Dead Sea. Not enough, and it’ll be bland as water.
And then there’s the doctor. He’s always talkin’ ’bout numbers. Your blood pressure, your heartbeat, all them things. Gotta keep an eye on them numbers, or you’ll end up six feet under quicker than a gopher in a hole. They always tellin’ me about my body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose numbers. I just nod and say, “yep, yep” but honestly, I don’t understand much of it. But I know it’s important.
Even in the Good Book, numbers are a big deal. Seven days God made the world, seven this, seven that. Seems like that number seven is mighty special. Now, me, I always liked the number eight. It just feels right, like a good pair of shoes. Someone told me it means forever, like infinity. I don’t know about all that fancy stuff, but I like the sound of it.
Numbers help us keep track of things, you see. How many cows you got, how many chickens, how many acres of land. Gotta know these things if you wanna be a good farmer. And if you’re sellin’ your crops, you gotta know how much you’re sellin’ and for how much.
Some folks get all tangled up in numbers, all them fancy equations and whatnot. Me, I like to keep it simple. Addin’, subtractin’, that’s all I need. But even that little bit is important. It’s like learnin’ your ABCs, you can’t get by without ’em. Without numbers, we’d all be lost, wanderin’ around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off.
Numbers are just as important as knowin’ how to plow a field or how to mend a fence. They keep things in order, they help us make sense of the world. So, pay attention to them numbers, they’ll keep you on the right track, just like a good ol’ compass.
And another thing, numbers help us tell time. Gotta know when to get up, when to eat, when to go to bed. Otherwise, you’ll be missin’ appointments and sleepin’ through the whole day. And that ain’t good for nobody. Numbers and time, they go hand in hand. Like a horse and carriage, can’t have one without the other.
So, next time you see a number, don’t just ignore it. Think about what it means, how it’s used. ‘Cause numbers ain’t just squiggles on a page, they’re the building blocks of life, just like dirt and water.
