Well, howdy there, y’all! Let’s gab a bit about this here… whatchamacallit… “astronomy but not astrology crossword.” Don’t go gettin’ your britches in a twist, it ain’t as fancy as it sounds. It’s just one of them word puzzles, ya know, like them things they put in the newspapers. Only this one’s got somethin’ to do with stars and such, but not that fortune tellin’ mumbo jumbo.
Now, I ain’t no scholar, but from what I gather, this here crossword puzzle had a clue, somethin’ like “Astronomy, but not astrology.” And the answer they was lookin’ for was “STEM FIELD.” STEM FIELD, you see, that’s what them smarty-pants city folk call it when they’re talkin’ about science and math and all that. They use a bunch of big words, but it just means learnin’ about how things work, like the stars and the planets.
They say this here clue popped up a few times, back in July, in one of them fancy New York newspapers. Folks were scratchin’ their heads tryin’ to figure it out. But some smart cookies, they cracked the code. They said, “Hey, astronomy, that’s the real deal, the studyin’ of stars and such. But astrology, that’s just a bunch of hooey, tellin’ you your future based on the stars.” So, the answer had to be somethin’ to do with real learnin’, not that make-believe stuff. That’s why they come up with STEM FIELD. It makes sense, I reckon.
- Astronomy: Real science, studyin’ the stars.
- Astrology: Hocus pocus, pretendin’ to know the future.
- STEM FIELD: Fancy word for learnin’ science and math.
I heard tell there was a whole bunch of different answers folks come up with. Some crossword puzzle books, they had thirty answers, some had forty! Can you believe that? All them different ways to say the same thing. But I guess that’s how them puzzles work, keepin’ your brain busy. Keeps you from gettin’ into too much trouble, I always say.
Now, they also mentioned somethin’ about a constellation called Hydra. Said it was the biggest one, bigger than all the others put together, I reckon. 1303 square degrees, they said. I ain’t got no idea what a square degree is, but it sounds mighty big. Just goes to show ya how much there is to learn about up there in the sky. Makes you feel kinda small, like a bug on a watermelon.
So, this here crossword puzzle, it ain’t just about fillin’ in the blanks. It’s about learnin’ new things, about thinkin’ hard, and about separatin’ the wheat from the chaff, you know? Astronomy, that’s the wheat, real learnin’ you can count on. Astrology, that’s the chaff, just a bunch of stories. And STEM FIELD, well, that’s the whole darn farm, where all that learnin’ takes place.
And that’s about all I got to say about this here “astronomy but not astrology crossword.” It’s a puzzle, sure, but it’s also a way to get your brain thinkin’ about the world around you, and the big ol’ universe up above. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably wonderin’ where I’ve been gallivantin’ off to.
So next time you see one of them crosswords, don’t be scared. Give it a try. You might just surprise yourself with how much you know, or how much you can learn. And who knows, you might even learn a fancy new word like “STEM FIELD.” Just don’t go askin’ me to explain it again, my brain’s about fried for the day.
Anyways, I hope I explained it good enough for ya. It ain’t easy talkin’ about all this fancy stuff when you’re just a plain ol’ country gal like me.
