I was browsing some psychology-related stuff the other day and stumbled upon the British Psychological Society (BPS). They have this annual conference that caught my eye, so I decided to dig a little deeper.
First off, I found out that the BPS is huge. I mean, they have over 50,000 members. It’s basically the go-to organization for psychologists in the UK. They’re all about developing and promoting psychology, which sounds pretty important.
So, I started looking into this conference. It seems like a big deal for anyone into psychology. They talk about all sorts of things. Apparently, it is a good place to get your research out. I even found out that they share a lot of psychology research through journals. That’s cool!
I looked at this year’s conference, and it seems they were planning to talk a lot about the COVID-19 pandemic and how psychology played a role. Makes sense, right? It’s been a crazy few years. They want to know how we all dealt with it. I guess that is an important thing to know.
- I also saw that they have a bunch of books and journals that are related to the conference topics.
- Sadly, I saw a notice that said they couldn’t meet in person. Bummer.
- But it looks like they still put together a list of resources for people to check out.
Then, I noticed there’s a whole section about getting a psychology dissertation. I guess if you are in university, it will be a big thing. They even had a webinar about it, which is probably super helpful for students. I’m not a student, but it’s good to know it’s there.
Oh, and I found this thing about a campaign they’re running to get more educational psychologists in local authorities. That sounds like a good cause. It seems like they are trying to make some real changes.
Anyway, I just thought it was interesting to see what the BPS is up to. It seems like they do a lot, and this conference is just one piece of it. I might try to keep an eye out for future conferences. You never know what you might learn, right?
My takeaway from this little exploration?
Psychology is a big field with a lot going on. And it looks like the BPS is right in the middle of it all, trying to keep everyone connected and informed. Pretty cool stuff, if you ask me!
