Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… “appalachian psychological and behavioral services,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, but I reckon it’s just about helpin’ folks with their thinkin’ and their doin’.
You know, life’s hard. Especially ’round here. Folks get stressed, they get worried, they get… well, they get messed up sometimes. Kids too. It ain’t nothin’ to be ashamed of, mind you. We all got our troubles.
So, what do these “services” do? Well, from what I gather, they do a bunch of things. They got them tests, them “neuropsychological” tests. I guess that’s to see what’s goin’ on up in your head. Like, if you’re forgettin’ things, or if you can’t pay attention, or if you’re just plain confused all the time.
- They help folks with their feelings. Like if you’re sad all the time, or if you’re scared, or if you just can’t seem to get happy no matter what. They call it “therapy,” I think. Sounds like talkin’ to somebody who knows what they’re doin’.
- They help young folks too, the teenagers. Lord knows they got their own set of problems these days. All that phone stuff and the… whatever they call it… “social media.” It’s enough to drive anyone crazy. So, they got people who specialize in helpin’ them. They call it “adolescent therapy.”
- And then there’s the… uh… “LGBT therapy.” Now, I don’t know much about that, but I reckon it’s for folks who love differently. And that’s alright, I say. Love is love, no matter how you slice it. These folks help them deal with the problems they face, ’cause life ain’t always easy for them neither.
- They also do tests for somethin’ called “ADHD.” That’s when kids can’t sit still or pay attention. My grandson, he’s got a bit of that, I think. Always jumpin’ around, never listenin’. Maybe I should take him to get tested.
- And if you’re havin’ trouble in school, they can test for that too. To see if you need extra help. They call it “academic accommodations testing.” Sounds fancy, but it just means they figure out what you need to learn better.
Now, how do you know if you need this stuff? Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? I guess if you’re feelin’ bad all the time, or if you can’t do the things you used to do, or if you’re just not yourself, then maybe it’s time to get some help. Don’t wait ’til things get so bad you can’t hardly stand it.
This fella, Dr. Kleinert, he started this whole thing back in 2021. Seems he saw that folks ’round here needed help, and they needed it cheap. ‘Cause let’s face it, ain’t nobody got money to throw around these days. So, he set up shop and started helpin’ folks. Good on him, I say.
They also help folks who got tangled up with the law. You know, sometimes people do things they shouldn’t, and sometimes it’s ’cause they ain’t thinkin’ right. So, these folks help the courts figure out what’s goin’ on. They call it “forensic mental health consultation.” Big words, I know, but it just means they’re experts in how the mind works, and they can help the judges make the right decisions.
Look, I ain’t no doctor, and I don’t know all the ins and outs of this stuff. But I know this: if you’re hurtin’, you need to get help. It don’t matter if it’s your body or your mind. There ain’t no shame in askin’ for help. We all need it sometimes.
So, if you’re feelin’ down, or if you’re worried, or if you just need someone to talk to, give these folks a call. I hear they’re good people, and they know what they’re doin’. They can help you with all sorts of things, like depression, anxiety, mood problems… all that stuff. It ain’t gonna be easy, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.
And remember, your “psychological health” or “mental health”, whatever you call it, is just as important as your physical health. It’s about your emotions, your behaviors, and how you get along with folks. If you’re angry all the time, or if you can’t control yourself, or if you’re just plain miserable, then that ain’t right. You deserve to be happy, and these folks can help you get there. You can find their number on the internet or in the phone book, I reckon.
So, don’t be afraid to reach out. There’s help out there, and you don’t have to go through it alone. These folks at “appalachian psychological and behavioral services,” they’re there to help. And that’s a good thing, a real good thing.
