Well, let me tell you, this whole horoscope thing, it’s a big deal. My granddaughter, she’s always on her phone, looking at this stuff up. Says it tells her what’s gonna happen today. “horoscope du jour balance asiaflash”, she calls it. I don’t know what that fancy word means, but it is about the stars I think.
She says I’m a…what’s that word… a “Libra.” Says it’s like a scale, you know, the thing you weigh stuff with. I guess that means I like things to be fair. And I do, I really do! I like it when things are balanced. Always said that you need to be honest, that is what my mom told me.
She reads me mine sometimes, and it’s always talking about love and work and money. Just like real life, ain’t it? Sometimes it says I’ll have a good day, sometimes it says to watch out. Like that one time it said to be careful with money. And wouldn’t you know it, I almost lost my purse that day! Maybe there’s something to this horoscope after all.
My granddaughter, she gets all excited when her horoscope says good things about love. She’s young, you know. Always dreaming about that prince charming. I tell her, “Honey, you just find a good man, a hard worker. That’s what matters.” But she just giggles and goes back to her phone. They are all the time with those phones nowdays.
- Love
- Work
- Money
- Luck
This “asiaflash” thing, I think it’s where she gets it from. Some website, I reckon. There’s all sorts of things on the internet these days. It’s a crazy world, I tell ya. Back in my day, we didn’t have all this. We just lived our lives. But these young people think their horoscope is very important.
I remember one time, my granddaughter’s horoscope said she’d have good luck at work. And she got a raise that week! She was so happy, she bought me a new scarf. A pretty blue one. Maybe this “balance” thing, this Libra horoscope, it’s got something to it. It’s like those stars up there know something we don’t, maybe.
She told me there are other signs too. Like, there is this “Aries” one, that’s like a ram or something. There are other ones like “Taurus” and “Gemini”. I don’t remember all those words, it is too much for my head. And then there’s one called “Cancer.” It is like a crab. My friend’s daughter, she’s a Cancer. And then there is “Leo,” like a lion. All those animals!
Then you got “Virgo,” and then there’s us “Libras.” And after that, there’s “Scorpio.” That one sounds scary, like a scorpion! Then there’s “Sagittarius”, that is the one that looks like a bow and arrow. “Capricorn” is like a goat, I think. “Aquarius” sounds like water. And the last one is “Pisces,” and that’s like a fish. It’s all very confusing. All those words, for someone who has little education, it is hard to remember.
But each one means something different, my granddaughter says. I don’t know, but I guess it is fun. It is like a game. People like to know what will happen, what their daily horoscope says, I guess.
I still think hard work and being a good person, that’s what really matters. You make your own luck, that’s what I always say. But hey, if looking at your horoscope, your daily horoscope, makes you happy, then who am I to judge?
This “horoscope du jour balance asiaflash,” it’s just a fancy way of saying what’s gonna happen today for us Libra folks, I suppose. And maybe, just maybe, there’s a little bit of truth in those stars. Maybe they do whisper some secrets about our daily lives to us, even to an old lady like me. Who knows? The world is full of mysteries.
Anyway, if you see my granddaughter, tell her to come home for dinner. I made her favorite, apple pie. And tell her not to worry too much about what those stars say. Just be a good girl, that’s all that matters in the end. This horoscope thing, I don’t think too much about it. But my granddaughter likes it. She will read her daily horoscope, and then she smiles. So maybe it is not bad.
