Listen up, I’m gonna tell you ’bout this astrology thing, don’t know much about it but I’ll tell you what I heard. People say it’s all about them stars and planets, how they mess with your life and all. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but hey, everyone’s gotta believe in somethin’, right?
They say you gotta know the day and time you popped out, where you were born and all that. Then they draw up this chart, looks like a mess of lines and symbols. Don’t ask me what it means, it’s all gobbledygook. But they say it tells ’em about your personality, what kind of job you should have, who you should marry. Imagine that!
They got these things called “signs,” like Aries and Taurus and such. Supposed to be based on when you were born, which month. My old man used to say it’s all a bunch of bull, but my neighbor Sally, she swears by it. Says her sign, Leo, is why she’s so bossy. Could be, I guess, she always did like tellin’ everyone what to do.
- They say you can learn about this stuff online, got all sorts of websites and apps. Some even give you your chart for free, just gotta plug in your birthday and such. Don’t know how they do it, computers these days, they’re mighty clever.
- Then there’s these folks called astrologers, they’re supposed to know all about it. You pay ’em money and they tell you your future, or somethin’ like that. My cousin Agnes went to one once, said it was a waste of time. But hey, to each their own, right?
Some folks say the planets push you around, make you do things you wouldn’t normally do. Like, if Mars is in the wrong place, you’re gonna be all angry and fightin’. Or if Venus is messed up, you’ll have bad luck in love. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me, but who am I to say?
They say you can learn about this astrology stuff by reading books and taking classes. Can you believe it? People actually studyin’ this stuff like it’s real. Guess there’s money to be made in anythin’ these days, huh?
I heard tell there’s different kinds of astrology too, not just the star signs. Some folks look at your past lives, or use numbers to predict the future. It’s all a bit much for me, I just try to live my life and not worry about what the stars are doin’.
Some folks say it’s all just a way to make sense of the world, to feel like you got some control over your life. Maybe so. It’s hard out there, ain’t it? Everyone’s lookin’ for answers, for somethin’ to hold onto. If lookin’ at the stars helps ’em, who am I to judge?
But I’ll tell you what, don’t go bettin’ your life savings on what some astrologer tells ya. They ain’t God, you know. They can’t see the future for sure. Just use your common sense, work hard, and be kind to folks. That’s what I always say.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this astrology business. Like I said, don’t know much, but maybe it’ll help you figure it out. Or maybe you’ll just think it’s a bunch of nonsense like me. Either way, it’s up to you.
