Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about names for your critters, you know, your dogs and cats and such. But not just any names, mind you. We’re talkin’ fancy, star-related names, like them city folks use. Astrology names, they call ’em. Sounds mighty important, don’t it?
Now, I ain’t no scholar, never went to no fancy school. But I heard tell from my niece who watches them TV shows, that stars got names, and them names mean somethin’. And folks, they like to give them star names to their animals. Goes to show how much they love them, I reckon.
So, let’s get down to brass tacks. What kind of names are we talkin’ about? Well, there’s them planet names. You know, like Mars, that red fella up in the sky. Folks say it’s the war planet, so maybe name your tough dog that. Or Venus, the pretty one. That’d be a good name for a sweet little kitty, wouldn’t it? And don’t forget about Jupiter, the big daddy of ’em all. Got a big ol’ dog? Jupiter might just fit the bill.
Then there’s them star names themselves. Now, I can’t pronounce half of ’em, but my niece showed me some in a book. Sirius, that’s a bright one, they say. Good for a dog that’s always running around, full of beans. Or Vega, another shiny one. Sounds kinda pretty, don’t it? Maybe for a cat that likes to sun herself.
- Here’s some more, just so you get the picture:
- Leo – for a brave critter, like a lion, you know.
- Gemini – if you got two of ‘em, maybe two kittens that always stick together.
- Luna – that’s the moon, not a star, but it’s up there in the sky too. Good for a night-time critter, maybe an owl, if you got one of them.
And get this, there’s even names from them Greek stories. My niece, she’s always reading about them gods and goddesses. Zeus, the big boss man. Apollo, the sun god. Athena, the smart one. All sorts of fancy names, fit for a king, or a queen, or your special little critter. If you have a big dog Zeus would do him right. Got a sassy little girl kitty? Athena might be just the ticket. And if you’ve got a male cat that just likes lounging in the sun, call him Apollo.
Now, some folks, they go all out. They look up the animal’s birthday and try to match the name to the star sign. Like, if your dog was born in the summer, maybe they name him Leo, ’cause that’s a summer star sign. Me? I just pick a name that sounds nice. But hey, to each their own, I always say. If you wanna get all fancy with it, you go right ahead.
But remember this, a name’s just a name. What really matters is how you treat your critter. You give ’em love, you give ’em food, you give ’em a warm place to sleep. That’s more important than any fancy star name, you hear? But a fancy name does make them sound special and it’s fun coming up with a special name for a new friend. Just make sure you can yell it out loud without embarrassing yourself too much. I once knew a fella who named his dog something so long and complicated, he just ended up callin’ him “Dog” anyway.
So there you have it. A whole mess of star names for your critters. Go on, pick one you like. And don’t worry if you can’t pronounce it right. Your critter won’t care, long as you feed ’em on time and give ’em a good scratch behind the ears now and then. And them stars, they probably don’t care either. They just keep on shining, no matter what we call our animals down here on Earth. Just find a name you and your little friend can live with and that makes you happy.
One more thing, if you’re going to name your critter after a star, it’s probably best to pick a name that’s easy to say. You’ll be saying it a lot, after all. And you don’t want to sound like you got a mouthful of marbles every time you call your dog or cat. So keep it simple, keep it sweet, and your critter will love you for it. And don’t overthink it. It’s just a name after all. It ain’t going to change the world or nothing.
