Okay, so I wanted to get into this whole tarot thing, and a buddy of mine mentioned something called the “Medicine Woman Tarot.” Sounded kinda cool, so I went on a hunt for some info about it. I found this PDF, the “Medicine Woman Tarot Guidebook.” At first, I was a little lost, didn’t know where to begin.
First, I downloaded the thing. Took a little while, but I got it. Then, I started to read. The first few pages were all about the history and idea behind this tarot deck. It talked about how it’s inspired by Native American traditions, which was pretty neat, though I don’t know much about that stuff.
Next, I flipped through the different sections. There was a whole chunk about the meanings of each card. This deck has 78 cards, which is a lot! Each one has a picture and a bunch of explanations about what it could mean in a reading. I spent a good amount of time just looking at the artwork and reading the descriptions. Some of it was pretty straightforward, other parts were a little more, I don’t know, mystical? But the pictures were really beautiful, I’ll give them that.
After that, the guidebook showed how to do a few basic spreads. A spread is just a way to lay out the cards to get different kinds of readings. There were simple ones with just a few cards and more complicated ones with a whole bunch. It all seemed a little overwhelming, to be honest. So, I started by just drawing a single card at random, just to see what I would get. I did this a couple of times, just to start.
Then I decided to try a simple three-card spread. I followed the instructions in the guidebook, shuffling the deck and laying out the cards. Then I read the meanings for each card and tried to see how they connected. It was kinda fun, like trying to solve a little puzzle, and it did make me think about some things that were going on in my life. I did this several times during the next few days, you know, whenever I had some free time.
Lastly, I practiced a few more times with different spreads. It was definitely a learning process, and I’m still not sure I’m doing it “right,” but it’s been an interesting experience. This “Medicine Woman Tarot Guidebook” PDF was a good starting point, although it’s a lot to take in. I keep practicing and learning about the cards little by little, maybe one day I will actually do a decent reading for myself, who knows!
- Step 1: Downloaded the PDF.
- Step 2: Read the intro and history.
- Step 3: Studied the card meanings.
- Step 4: Learned about spreads.
- Step 5: Tried a simple spread.
- Step 6: Practiced with different spreads.
Overall, I think this is a neat little system, and it’s been a fun way to learn a bit about tarot. I think I will keep practicing when I can, and perhaps someday I will get better at it.
