Okay, so, I’ve been on this kick lately, you know, really getting into understanding how our brains work. It’s just fascinating, right? So I thought, why not dive deep and read some books about the brain and psychology? This is what I’m gonna share with you today.
First off, I started by just looking around, you know, like what books are even out there about the brain? I found a list that said something about “the best 20 books about the brain”. I was like, perfect! That’s a good place to start. Whether you’re just curious about the brain or you’re super into it, I guess this list has something for everyone.
Then I started going through this list and one book kept popping up called “Thinking, Fast and Slow”. I saw it was written by some guy named Daniel Kahneman. I heard the name before, and I’ve been meaning to read it, so I decided to start with that one.
My reading experience
- Diving In: I grabbed the book and just started reading. At first, it’s a bit much, you know? Lots of big words and concepts. But once you get into it, it’s pretty cool. It talks about how we make decisions and how our brain can play tricks on us.
- Getting Engrossed: I really got hooked. I mean, this guy Kahneman, he really knows his stuff. He explains things in a way that even I could understand, which is saying something. I found myself reading every chance I got.
- Mind Blown: Some of the stuff in this book, seriously, it’s mind-blowing. Like, did you know our brains have two systems of thinking? One is fast and automatic, the other is slow and deliberate. It’s crazy how much this affects our lives. I learned a lot about my own biases and how to maybe, just maybe, make better decisions.
After “Thinking, Fast and Slow”, I wanted to explore more. I found other books that talked about some past thinkers, like Buddha and this other guy, William James. These books got into things like neuroplasticity – that’s a big word for how our brains can change and adapt – and also mindfulness meditation and something called quantum physics. Sounds complicated, right? But it’s actually super interesting. It’s like, our brains are not just fixed, they can be rewired. How cool is that?
So, yeah, that’s been my journey so far. I learned a lot, and I realized there is still so much to learn about this amazing thing inside our heads. I’m definitely going to keep reading and exploring. It’s like a whole new world has opened up. And who knows, maybe I’ll even get a little bit smarter along the way! And you can also start this journey if you want!
