Okay, so I’ve been digging into the Brooklyn College psychology department, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. First off, I wanted to figure out who’s running the show over there. Turns out, it’s this guy named Matthew Crump. He’s the department chairperson. You can find his office in 5401 James Hall, if you ever need to track him down.
I also found their phone number, 718.951.5601, and their fax, because apparently, people still use those, 718.951.4814. Anyway, moving on.
Next, I started looking into the actual courses they offer. If you’re a student trying to figure out what to take, they have a whole guide on course registration and prerequisites. That’s pretty helpful, I guess.
Then, I realized that this college is right in the middle of New York City, which they say is full of “cultural and artistic energy”. Not sure how that affects psychology, but okay. The psychology folks claim to have a lot of expertise, and each brings their own “unique perspective”.
Trying to Get Help
Now, if you’re a student and you need help, you’re supposed to talk to your professor first if it’s about a course. If it’s about the program itself, there’s someone else you have to find. But, from what I gathered, you can also just shoot them an email at PsychAdvisor@*. Just make sure to include your full name and your student ID, or EMPL ID, as they call it.
My Overall Impression
- Location: It’s in Brooklyn, so, you know, it’s busy.
- Faculty: They seem to have a lot of people with different backgrounds.
- Getting help: Seems like they have a system, but it also seems a bit complicated.
- Best for: Apparently it’s good if you’re into neuroscience and psychology, strong programs, research opportunities, something like that.
So yeah, that’s my deep dive into the Brooklyn College psychology department. I tried to contact them and inquire about something, but I’m still waiting to hear back. It wasn’t easy, maybe I just failed. Hopefully, this is useful for someone out there. It’s a basic overview, but it’s a start, right?
