Okay, so I was looking through my stuff and found this quiz, “Chapter 14 Psychological Disorders,” and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve even thought about this stuff.
I started flipping through the pages, and right off the bat, there were terms like “Personal Distress” and “Disability” staring back at me. I was trying to remember what each of these meant in the context of, you know, mental health and all that.
Then there was this question about some Professor Hexter who thinks that unconscious conflicts are often at the root of psychological issues. I was scratching my head, trying to place which approach that was. I remembered there’s a whole bunch of ways people look at these problems.
Digging Deeper into the Material
I also found some flashcards in my notes about “Psychopathy” and “Psychological Disorder.” I spent a good chunk of time just reading through these, trying to refresh my memory.
- Started with definitions.
- Tried to recall examples.
- Matched symptoms to disorders.
There was also something about conceptualizing these issues as illnesses, similar to physical ones, with biological and environmental causes. That was a bit of a mouthful, but it got me thinking about how complex this all is.
I even found some video answers for textbook questions related to this chapter. I watched a couple of those, just to see if I could get a better grasp of the main ideas.
What I Realized
After going through all of this, I realized how much I’ve forgotten. But, it was also kind of cool to see how much I actually remembered. It’s like, once you learn something, it never really leaves you completely.
In the end, I didn’t do too badly on the quiz. I definitely need to brush up on some areas, but overall, it was a nice little trip down memory lane. Plus, it’s always good to keep the brain juices flowing, right?
