Now, if you’re one of them young folks thinkin’ about studyin’ this, I hear there’s a bunch of schools teachin’ it. This one, “Louisiana State University,” they got some program. Even do some of the learnin online, on that computer thing.
Seems they want to figure out the best one of the criminal psychology degrees in the whole of the country. It’s not like how to grow the best tomato, it’s what school can tell you the most about bad guys. So, they say 2021 was a year they really looked at it. These tags they put, they are like when you label your jars of jam. “Best Criminal Psychology Degrees,” “Bachelor’s degree,” that’s what they are sayin’.
If you’re itchin’ to know why them crooks do what they do, act the way they act, this might be somethin’ for ya. I reckon it’s a lot of book learnin’. Not like learnin’ how to make a good biscuit, that’s for sure. But that’s how it is, how people learn things about how criminals think, how they decide what they are gonna do.
They say Stanford University is a real good one. Big fancy school. They do a lot of that “research” stuff. Probably got all sorts of fancy equipment and whatnot. Supposed to be good for this criminal psychology thing.
To be one of them criminal psychologists, sounds like you gotta go to school for a long time. First, you gotta get a “bachelor’s degree.” That’s like your first big step in schoolin’. You can study psychology or this “forensics” thing. Then, you gotta keep goin’ and get a “doctoral degree.” That’s like bein’ a doctor, but for the mind, I reckon.
You can start learnin’ this online, or you can go to a real school building. Either way, they say you gotta look at all the “courses” they got. Like pickin’ out what seeds you wanna plant, I guess. You got to see what each school is going to teach you, to see what is best for you.
This whole thing, this “forensic science and psychology,” it’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Sounds like somethin’ them highfalutin folks talk about. But I guess it’s important to understand why folks do bad things. Maybe if we understand ’em, we can stop ’em. Or at least catch ’em quicker.

I still think it’s all a bit much. Back in my day, we just knew who the bad apples were. But I guess times are changin’. These young folks, they wanna study everything, even the minds of criminals.

Maybe you will not be figuring out all the big cases, but you can still help folks. Every little bit helps, as they say. If more people learn about this, maybe we can get less bad guys. That would be really good.
