Alright, so I was digging into the Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s ranking the other day. It’s something I’ve been meaning to check out for a while now, and I finally got around to it.
First, I hit up the usual suspect, US News & World Report. They’re pretty much the go-to for this kind of stuff. Turns out, they’ve got a section on the best psychology schools. I did a quick search, just typed in “Chicago School of Professional Psychology,” and boom, there it was. I noticed the University of Chicago was ranked pretty high, like 12th in the nation for psychology. That’s a bit of a surprise because I was interested in the Chicago School of Professional Psychology specifically. But there was also a mention of the Chicago School there, which is reassuring.
- Checked US News & World Report for psychology school rankings.
- Searched for the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
- Found the University of Chicago ranked 12th nationally for psychology.
Then, I remembered something about accreditation, which is a big deal for these schools. It’s like a stamp of approval, you know? So, I searched for the Chicago School’s accreditation status. I found out that they’re accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). They’ve been accredited since 2011, apparently. That’s good to know.
Also, I found some buzz about the American Psychological Association (APA) giving accreditation to the Chicago School’s Psy.D. program in May. That’s a huge win for them and probably means good things for students in that program.
After that, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole, looking at different websites that rank universities. I checked out QS Rankings and Times Higher Education, just to see what they had to say. It’s always interesting to see how these different sources rate the same school, you know? They evaluate them on all sorts of things, like 67 different criteria or something like that. That’s wild.

And, of course, I had to dive into what people are saying about the school’s reputation. You can find all sorts of opinions online, right? There were a few different forums and websites where folks were discussing the Chicago School’s reputation. Some people were really into it, and others, not so much. But that’s the internet for you. Can never get a single answer!
I also stumbled upon a page with info on tuition, financial aid, and student life. I didn’t spend too much time there, but it’s good to know that information is readily available. I also found that the Chicago school’s ranking information is published on various websites. They are probably trying their best to do that, which is understandable!
Anyway, that’s basically how I spent my afternoon. Just wanted to share my little research adventure with you all. It’s pretty interesting to see how much information is out there once you start looking. This is what I found from my research. Hope this is helpful for anyone considering The Chicago School!
