Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole psychology thing at UC Davis. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started off with absolutely no clue about what I was getting into. I mean, I knew I was interested in psychology, but I didn’t really know what that meant in terms of, like, studying it at a university.
First thing I did was try to get in touch with an advisor. I sent an email to that address, you know, psychadvising something at ucdavis dot edu. I also tried to set up an advising appointment. That took a little time to get a response, but it was worth it. It’s a good start point if you are trying to get into this field.
- Emailed psychadvising for advice.
- Scheduled an academic advising appointment.
Then, I started looking at the different areas they cover. It’s pretty broad, you know? They’ve got your perception, cognition, neuroscience, social psychology, and even developmental stuff. And let me tell you, it was a lot to take in. I started getting a bit overwhelmed, not gonna lie. There are five parts in total, I found that they call it Biological Psychology, Developmental, and Perception-Cognition.
I spent a good chunk of time just reading through the program plans. They have these sample plans that give you an idea of what courses you need to take. Honestly, it felt like I was trying to decipher some ancient code at first. But, after a while, it started to make a little more sense. And it seems like I need to take many courses to get a degree.
- Explored various areas like perception, cognition, and neuroscience.
- Studied sample program plans to understand course requirements.
I also found out that the program is pretty flexible. I guess that’s a good thing, especially for someone like me who’s still figuring things out. They say it’s one of their strengths that the program can be adapted to each student. That calmed me a little, knowing it wasn’t a rigid, one-size-fits-all kind of deal.
One thing that really stood out to me was how many different interests the faculty and students have. It’s not just a bunch of people studying the same thing. There’s a real mix of folks there, which I think is pretty cool. I realized that graduate work in any area of psychology is possible here.
- Noticed the program’s flexibility and diverse interests of faculty and students.
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole UC Davis psychology thing. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m learning a lot. Still not sure where exactly I want to end up within the field, but I’m taking it one step at a time. It’s a process, you know? And I’m trying to enjoy the ride, even if it gets a little bumpy sometimes. Finally, I know that I can gain advanced knowledge of psychology theory including developmental and perception. These are my favorite parts.
My Future Plan
I have made up my mind that I will definitely become a psychology student and that is why I have spent so much time learning about their program and taking notes. I hope that I can get a degree as soon as possible.
