Okay, so, I gotta tell you about my adventure with the DC Board of Psychology website. It all started when I needed to get some info for renewing my license. You know, the usual bureaucratic stuff.
First, I went to their website. It had a thing called MyDC, which I thought was like a one-stop shop for all things related to the Board. They used to call it MyCampus, maybe they changed it for a refresh or something. I figured it’d be easy-peasy from there.
I saw options for Enrolment Services, Financial Aid, and Records. I was like, “Cool, cool, this is pretty organized.” There was even a section about Academic Faculties, and one specifically for Hospitality and Horticultural Science. I mean, field-to-fork, right? Interesting, but not really what I was there for.
Then, I noticed something about student jobs and a program called DC Works. “Earn money this academic year,” it said. Probably a good thing for students, but I’m way past my student days. I kept digging.
I tried logging in. The website said, “Durham College users, use email address. Ontario Tech University users, use Banner/Student ID.” I was a bit confused since I didn’t go to either of those. But then I saw a big announcement.
It turns out, they have a new online licensing system! “DC Health is excited to announce the opening of our new online licensing system,” it proclaimed. “Effective immediately,” no less. I figured this was it – finally, some progress!
So, I dove into the application section. It said the Board reviews each application and determines eligibility. They had a bunch of instructions, which, to be honest, was a bit overwhelming. But hey, gotta follow the rules, right?
While I was looking around, I stumbled upon some flashcards on Quizlet related to this stuff. There was stuff about “binary format” and “CodePlex”. Not sure how that’s relevant, but okay. I also found some random blog posts about teaching and a theory critique using some model by “Chinn and Kramer”. Lots of academic jargon. I guess this website is used by students a lot too.
There was even a mention of something called “Social Work Speaks,” which they described as a reference tool representing the “collective thinking of thousands of social workers.” Sounds important, I guess.
Anyway, after a lot of clicking and reading, I finally found the right forms and instructions for my license renewal. It took a while, but I got there.
The whole experience was a bit of a maze. It felt like the website was trying to be everything for everyone – students, professionals, maybe even gardeners with that horticulture section! But, in the end, I managed to get what I needed. Just took a little more digging than I expected.
If you’re a psychologist in DC looking to renew your license, just be prepared to spend some time navigating their website. It’s all there, you just gotta find it!
