Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about going back to school. I already have a degree, but I’m really fascinated by psychology. Then I thought, “Why not try to get a dual degree?” It seemed like a big challenge, but also a really cool opportunity to dive deep into psychology while also keeping my options open. So, I started looking into these dual degree programs with a focus on psychology.
First, I hit up the internet, you know, just to see what was out there. I typed in “dual degree programs psychology” and a whole bunch of stuff popped up. I spent hours just reading through different university websites and program descriptions. It was kind of overwhelming, to be honest. There are so many options!
Then I started making a list of universities that seemed interesting. I jotted down notes about their programs, like what kind of psychology they focus on, what the other degree options were, and how long each program would take. It was a lot of info to keep track of.
- Emailed some of the universities to get more details.
- Talked to a few friends who had gone back to school for a second degree.
- Read some forums online about people’s experiences in dual degree programs.
After all that, I finally narrowed down my list to a few programs that really stood out. Then came the application process – ugh, that was a whole other adventure! I had to gather transcripts, write essays, and get letters of recommendation. It felt like it took forever.
I remember one program required a really long personal statement about why I wanted to pursue a dual degree in psychology. I spent days just working on that one essay, trying to really explain my passion for psychology and how it connected to my other interests. I don’t know how many times I drafted it.
Finally, I submitted all my applications and then the waiting game began. It was nerve-wracking! Every day I was checking my email, hoping for some good news. Then, one day, I got an acceptance letter from one of my top choice schools! I was so excited, I think I jumped up and down for a good five minutes.
A New Chapter
Now I’m actually in the program, and it’s definitely challenging, but also really rewarding. I’m taking classes in both psychology and my other chosen field, and it’s amazing how much they overlap and complement each other. It’s a lot of work, but I’m learning so much, and I’m really growing as a person.
This whole experience has taught me so much about myself and what I’m capable of. It’s definitely not easy to go back to school and take on a dual degree, but for me, it’s been totally worth it. I feel like I’m finally on the right path, and I’m excited to see where it takes me.
