This enneagram astrology thing, I heard some folks talking ’bout it the other day. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me, but I reckon some people get a kick outta it. They say it tells ya ’bout yer personality, kinda like them horoscopes.
Me? I don’t need no enneagram to tell me who I am. I know who I am! But these young’uns, always lookin’ for somethin’ to tell ’em what to do.
What’s this Enneagram Thing Anyway?
Well, from what I gathered, it’s like a number thing. You take some test, and it tells ya what number you are. And each number, they say, means somethin’ different ’bout ya. There’s like, nine of ’em, I think. Nine types of people, they say.
- Type One, they’re the goody-two-shoes, always tryin’ to be perfect.
- Type Two, they’re the helpers, always doin’ things for other folks.
- Type Three, they’re the show-offs, always wantin’ to be the best.
- Type Four, they’re the sad ones, always feelin’ sorry for themselves, maybe.
- Type Five, they’re the quiet ones, always thinkin’ and learnin’.
- Type Six, they’re the worriers, always frettin’ ’bout somethin’.
- Type Seven, they’re the fun ones, always lookin’ for a good time.
- Type Eight, they’re the bossy ones, always tellin’ people what to do.
- Type Nine, they’re the peacemakers, always tryin’ to keep everyone happy.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s right or wrong. Just what I heard. I heard even Michelle Obama and that Kate Middleton, they played ’round with this enneagram stuff.
Enneagram and Astrology, What’s the Connection?
Then there’s this astrology part. You know, the stars and the moon and all that. They say your sign, like if you’re a Leo or a Virgo, that can tell ya ’bout yer personality too. So, some folks, they try to mix this enneagram with the astrology.
It is like tryin’ to mix oil and water, if you ask me. But they say it gives ya a better picture of who ya are. Like, maybe you’re a Type Two, but you’re also a Cancer, so that means somethin’ extra. I don’t know, it makes my head spin. Some folks say they take a test to figure out the enneagram, but astrology is just when you came out, what day and time. That’s it.

Is This Enneagram Stuff Real?
Now, that’s the big question, ain’t it? Is this enneagram astrology stuff for real, or is it just a bunch of hooey? Some smart folks, they say there ain’t enough proof. They like that other thing, that Myers-Briggs thing, better. They say it’s more, you know, scientific. They say this other stuff is what them fancy doctors use, not the enneagram.
But I reckon it don’t matter if it’s “real” or not. If it helps people understand themselves better, then good for them. I mean, who am I to judge? I just like keepin’ things simple.
Some folks, they say this enneagram thing really works. They say it helps ’em understand why they do the things they do. They say it’s helped ’em in their relationships, at their jobs, all that stuff. It really works, they tell ya. I don’t know about all that, but ok.
I guess if you’re into that kinda thing, it can’t hurt to try. Just don’t go spendin’ all your money on it, ya hear? There’s plenty of other things to waste your money on!
Why Do People Like This Stuff?
I think people just like to feel like they belong, you know? Like they’re part of somethin’. And this enneagram astrology, it gives ’em a group to belong to. If you’re a Type Eight, you can find other Type Eights, and you can all talk ’bout how bossy you are. I guess I do see how that could be fun for them.
And I reckon it’s kinda like a game, too. It’s fun to figure out what your number is, what your sign is, and what it all means. Like solvin’ a puzzle.
But me, I’d rather be outside, tendin’ to my garden. That’s real. That’s somethin’ I can see and touch. This enneagram astrology, it’s all up in your head. That’s where all the enneagram stuff is, in your head.
But hey, to each their own, right? If it makes ya happy, then go for it. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when your enneagram number tells ya you’re gonna have a bad day!
I’ve seen folks get all worked up ’bout this stuff. They take it too seriously, if you ask me. It’s just somethin’ to think about, not somethin’ to live your life by. That’s what I always say.
I still think it’s a bunch of malarkey, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady, set in my ways. These young people today, they need their enneagrams and their astrology. Maybe it makes the world a little more interestin’ for ’em.
But don’t you go forgettin’ who you are, just ’cause some number or some star tells you somethin’ different. You listen to your gut, that’s what I say. Your gut knows more than any enneagram ever will.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say ’bout this enneagram astrology business. It’s a head-scratcher, that’s for sure. But if it floats your boat, then more power to ya. Just don’t let it sink ya!
