This here Berry College, they got somethin’ called “psychology.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? I reckon it’s about that brain stuff, what makes folks tick and all that.
Berry College psychology, that’s what them young’uns call it. They learn all sorts of things there, I hear. Like why people do what they do. It ain’t like back in my day. We just did what we had to do. Didn’t need no fancy learnin’ to figure folks out.
But these kids today, they go to Berry College for this psychology thing. I heard one girl say she was a “psychology major.” What’s that mean anyway? Major in thinkin’?
- They got this psychology learnin’.
- They say it helps folks understand their brains.
- It can get you a job helpin’ people, or maybe teachin’.
They say you can get a job helpin’ people with this Berry College psychology degree. Like one of them “therapists” or somethin’. Talkin’ to folks about their troubles. Back in my day, we just talked to the preacher. Or each other. Didn’t cost nothin’ either.
But I guess times are changin’. These young’uns at Berry College, they study all sorts of things. Not just psychology, but animals and bein’ a teacher and talkin’ good. They call that “Communication” these days. Fancy words for just plain talkin’, if you ask me.
I reckon if you want to help people, this psychology thing might be for you. They say it’s important to understand how the mind works. Like, if someone’s got the blues, this psychology stuff can help ’em figure out why. And maybe get them smilin’ again.
They got somethin’ called “General Psychology” at Berry College. I reckon that’s the basic stuff. Like learnin’ the ABCs of thinkin’. Before you get to the hard stuff. Must be a lot to learn about the brain, if they got all these different types of psychology.
If you go to Berry College for this psychology, they gonna test ya. They call it an “assessment” or somethin’. Sounds like a fancy word for a test. They want to make sure you learned somethin’ I suppose. You can’t just go there and play around.
This whole psychology business is kind of interestin’, I reckon. Never thought much about it before. But it makes sense, I guess. People got problems, and sometimes they need help figurin’ ’em out. And these Berry College psychology folks, they’re supposed to be the ones who can help.
They got a scholarship for psychology too. Money for schoolin’, that is. If you are good at this brain stuff, they might help you pay for it. That’s sure somethin’, ain’t it? School is expensive!
