Okay, so I decided to get into Tarot cards. It always seemed like a fun way to do some self-reflection, and hey, maybe get a little guidance. Here’s how my first real try went.

First, I got myself a deck. Nothing fancy, just a standard Rider-Waite deck I found online. I figured it’s the classic one, good for beginners. I also grabbed a simple guidebook to help me understand the meanings.
Getting Started
I cleared a little space on my table, lit a candle (because, why not?), and shuffled the cards. Honestly, the shuffling was the hardest part! I’m not exactly a card shark, so they kept slipping everywhere.
Then, I followed the instructions in my book for a simple three-card spread. This is supposed to represent the past, present, and future. I laid them out, face down, and took a deep breath.
My First Reading
- Past: The first card I flipped over was The Chariot. My book said it’s about willpower and overcoming obstacles. Makes sense, I’ve been dealing with some work stuff lately.
- Present: Next, I got the Two of Cups. This one’s about partnerships and connection. I’ve been trying to be more present in my relationships, so that felt pretty spot-on.
- Future: The last card was a bit of a surprise – The Tower. Okay, that sounds scary! But the book explained it’s about sudden change and upheaval, but also breaking down old structures to build something new. So, maybe not all bad?
Making Sense of It All
Honestly, at first, I was a little freaked out by The Tower. But after thinking about it, and reading the guidebook a few more times, I started to see how it could apply to my life. I’ve been feeling stuck in some areas, and maybe this is a sign that things are about to shake up, hopefully for the better.

Overall, it was a pretty cool experience. I don’t know if I totally “believe” in Tarot, but it definitely gave me some food for thought. It helped me look at my situation from a different perspective, and I actually felt a bit more optimistic after the reading.
I’m definitely going to keep practicing. Maybe I’ll even try some different spreads. It’s a fun little ritual, and if it helps me reflect and grow, then I’m all for it!
