Alright, let’s gab about this astrology stuff, you know, the magazines and all that star business. I heard some folks call it astrology magazine, sounds fancy, huh? Don’t know much about it myself, but I’ve seen them magazines at the store, next to the lottery tickets. Makes you wonder, don’t it?
So, this Indian Vedic Astrology, they say it’s the real deal. Says somethin’ ’bout birth horoscopes and charts, all fancy-like. They got these “varga charts” too, whatever those are. And “dasha systems,” like Vimshottari and Yogini. Sounds complicated, like tryin’ to understand why the rooster crows at 4 am sharp. But them Indians, they been doin’ this for ages, since some fella named Bhrigu. They even call him the “Father of Hindu Astrology.” Imagine that, bein’ the father of stars!
Then there’s this Modern Astrology. This one’s tied to some fella named Carl Jung, a brainy fella who liked to mix astrology with thinkin’ ’bout people’s heads. It’s kinda like how I mix my cornbread – a little bit of this, a little bit of that. This modern stuff, it’s what you see on the internet, all them funny pictures and sayings ‘bout star signs. You know, like if you’re a bull, you’re stubborn, or if you’re a crab, you’re crabby. Makes sense, I guess.
Now, they got all sorts of magazines. AstroLogic Magazine, Modern Astrology Magazine, AstroSage Magazine… sounds like a bunch of smarty-pants talk to me. There’s even somethin’ called Kindred Spirit Magazine. Sounds like somethin’ my granddaughter would read, she’s always talkin’ ‘bout spirits and good vibes. And then there’s Astronomy Magazine, which I guess is ’bout the stars themselves, not just what they mean for us down here on Earth.
- One magazine, Astronomy, they print a whole lot of copies, like 84,490 every month! Most of them go to folks in America, but some go up to Canada too. That’s a lot of magazines, more than the chickens I got in the coop, that’s for sure!
- Seems like these magazines, they either talk about the stars and planets like big rocks in the sky, or they talk about how them stars and planets mess with our lives. Me? I just worry ‘bout the weather and if the crops will grow. That’s enough star-gazing for one old lady.
I reckon this astrology stuff has been around a long time. Like I said, them Indians been at it forever. And now everybody’s readin’ about it in magazines or on their phones. Makes you think there might be somethin’ to it. Maybe the stars do have somethin’ to say, just like the creaky old floorboards in my house tell me when someone’s comin’ up the porch.
But I tell you what, whether you believe in it or not, it’s somethin’ to think about when you’re sittin’ on the porch, watchin’ the night sky. Makes you feel small, but also kinda connected to somethin’ bigger, you know? Like we’re all just part of this big, grand plan, whatever that plan may be. Just like how every kernel of corn makes up a whole cob, we’re all part of somethin’ bigger.
So, next time you see one of them astrology magazines, maybe pick it up. Might learn somethin’ new, or maybe just have a good laugh. Either way, it’s somethin’ to pass the time, ain’t it? And who knows, maybe them stars can tell you somethin’ you didn’t know about yourself. Or maybe they’ll just tell you to plant your tomatoes a little later this year. Either way, it’s all part of life’s big mystery, I reckon.
Anyway, that’s my two cents on this star business. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
