Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this here… uh… Fenestra Tarot, that’s what they call it. Fancy name, sounds like somethin’ a city slicker would come up with, but it’s just cards, plain and simple, like them playin’ cards my grandpappy used to have, only with more pictures and stuff.
Now, this Fenestra Tarot, they say it’s named after some word, “fenestra” they call it. Means “window” in some language I ain’t never heard of before. Latin, I think they said. Like them fellers in the church used to mumble. Anyways, a window, huh? I guess it’s like lookin’ through a window into… somethin’. Your mind, maybe? Or maybe just lookin’ at pretty pictures, who knows.
Some artist woman, Chatriya her name is, made these here cards. From Thailand, I heard tell. She used soft colors, real gentle on the eyes, not like them harsh, bright colors you see on them city signs. And the pictures, they’re kinda like the old-timey tarot, but softer, like I said. Watercolors, they call ’em.
- The High Priestess
- Lots of cards
They got this one card, the High Priestess. She’s a woman, sittin’ all quiet-like. Blue dress, hands in her lap. They say she’s all about knowin’ things, deep down things, not the stuff you learn in school, but the stuff you just… feel. Like knowin’ when it’s gonna rain, even if the sky’s still blue.
And there’s a bunch of other cards too. Seventy-eight of ‘em, they say. Each one got its own picture, its own story. Some are happy, some are sad, some are just plain confusing. But they all mean somethin’, or so they say.
Now, I ain’t no fancy card reader, mind you. I can’t tell ya yer future or nothin’ like that. But I reckon these cards, this Fenestra Tarot, they can get ya thinkin’. They can stir up stuff inside ya, stuff ya didn’t even know was there. It’s like lookin’ at them clouds, you know? Sometimes you see a dog, sometimes you see a dragon, sometimes you just see a blob. It’s all in how you look at it.
They say you can use these cards to… what’s the word… “procure a reaction” from your “subconscious.” Big words, I tell ya. But I think it just means it gets ya thinkin’ about things you don’t normally think about. Like why you always pick the same kind of apple at the store, or why you always take the long way home. Little things, maybe, but sometimes them little things tell ya a whole lot about yerself.
And you can use these cards for other folks too, not just yerself. You can lay ‘em out, all fancy-like, and try to figure out what they mean for someone else. But you gotta be careful, see? ‘Cause people, they get all het up about their futures. They wanna know if they’re gonna be rich, if they’re gonna find love, if they’re gonna be happy. And these cards, they ain’t got all the answers. They just got… pictures. And it’s up to you, and whoever you’re readin’ for, to figure out what them pictures mean.
Tarot card reading ain’t no magic, ya know? It ain’t gonna make yer troubles go away, and it ain’t gonna tell ya exactly what to do. But it might… just might… help ya see things a little clearer. It might help ya understand yerself a little better. And maybe, just maybe, it might help ya make some better choices.
This Fenestra deck, it’s kinda like a… a tool, I guess. Like a hammer or a hoe. You can use a hammer to build a house, or you can use it to smash somethin’ to pieces. You can use a hoe to plant seeds, or you can just use it to dig a hole. It all depends on how you use it. And these cards, this Fenestra Tarot, it’s the same way. You can use ‘em to look for answers, or you can just use ‘em to look at pretty pictures. It’s up to you.
I hear tell there are places online, like “Kasamba” they call it, where you can get someone to read these cards for ya. They charge money, of course. Nothin’s free these days, is it? But if you’re curious, and you got a few extra dollars, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try it. Just don’t go expectin’ miracles, ya hear? ‘Cause life ain’t no fairy tale, and these cards, they ain’t no magic wands.
So, that’s what I know about this here Fenestra Tarot. It’s pretty, it’s got lots of pictures, and it might make ya think a little harder than usual. But in the end, it’s just cards. And what they mean… well, that’s up to you.
