Alright, so you wanna learn about them fancy star schools, huh? Them places where they teach you about the sky and all that stuff. I ain’t no scholar, mind you, but I heard some things from my nephew who reads a lot. He’s always got his nose in a book, that boy.
He told me about some real good schools, the kind that cost a pretty penny, I bet. Said there’s this place out in California, California Institute of Technology they call it. Sounds real fancy, don’t it? They must be real smart out there, knowin’ all about the stars and such.
Then there’s Harvard University. Heard of that one, even me. That’s where all them rich folks go, I reckon. They probably got telescopes bigger than my whole house! Must be somethin’ to see them stars through them fancy contraptions.
- UC Berkeley: Another one of them California schools. My nephew says it’s real good for learnin’ about space.
- University of Cambridge: This one’s across the big water, in England I think. They been studyin’ the stars for a long, long time over there, so they must know a thing or two.
- University of Chicago: Heard it gets cold there, real cold. But them folks must be smart, braving the cold to look at the stars.
My nephew also mentioned somethin’ called Yale University. Said it’s in a place called New Haven. Don’t know much about it, but if my nephew says it’s good, then it must be good. He’s a smart boy, like I said.
Now, how you get into these schools, I ain’t got a clue. Probably gotta be real smart and have a lot of money. My nephew says you gotta look at their “admissions data” and “tuition,” whatever that means. Sounds complicated to me.
He also talks about a place called MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That one’s supposed to be real good too, for physics and astronomy, whatever that is. All them big words make my head spin, I tell ya. But it sounds important, this physics and astronomy stuff.
If you’re lookin’ for schools closer to home, he says you can find ’em too. Even in places like Kentucky, he says. But he says you gotta “filter by degree level.” Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ you do with coffee, not schools.
He also showed me somethin’ called a “QS World University Ranking.” Said it tells you which schools are the best in the world for different things. Like physics and astronomy. MIT was up there at the top, that’s what he said. Said it was the best or somethin’.
So, there you have it. A bunch of fancy schools for learnin’ about the stars. If you’re young and smart, maybe you can go to one of them. Just remember what your old auntie told ya, it takes hard work and a bit of luck. And probably a whole lot of money too.
But shoot for the stars, they say. Even if you don’t land in one of them fancy schools, you can still look up at the night sky and wonder about all the amazing things out there. That don’t cost nothin’ at all.
