Okay, so today I decided to mess around with some single-card tarot readings. I’ve always been a little curious about tarot, but never really dived in. Figured a single-card draw would be a simple way to start, no complicated spreads or anything.

First, I grabbed my deck. It’s a Rider-Waite deck, nothing fancy, just the basic one you can find pretty much anywhere. I shuffled the cards a bunch of times, trying to, you know, “clear my mind” and all that. Honestly, I felt a little silly, but I went with it.
Getting Started
- Shuffled the deck: Like, a LOT. I wanted to make sure they were good and mixed.
- Focused on a question: It was a simple one “what kind of energy do I face today”.
- Spread cards and selected one. I just spread the cards in front of me and hover my palm over the deck.
Then I spread the cards out face down on my table. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes for a second, and just picked a card. The one that felt… I dunno, “right,” I guess. I didn’t peek!
I flipped the card over, and it was… The Star. I’m not gonna lie, I had to look up the meaning online. I don’t have all the cards memorized or anything. Turns out, The Star is all about hope, inspiration, and renewal. Kind of a nice card to get, actually!
Reading the Card
From what I gathered online, The Star suggests a period of calm and optimism. It’s about connecting with your inner self and finding inspiration. It also talks about healing and renewal, which resonated with me because I’ve been feeling a bit stressed lately.

So, my little single-card tarot experiment was pretty cool. It wasn’t some mind-blowing revelation, but it was a fun way to spend a few minutes and maybe get a little bit of perspective.
I will do it more in the future and might dive into some more complicated readings, but for now, I’m happy with my one-card draw.
