So, the other day, I got into this whole thing about French astrology signs, or “les signes du zodiaque” as they say in French.
I started by reading up a bit online. Apparently, astrology has been a big deal for centuries, and these zodiac signs are at the center of it. I’m not a die-hard believer, but I’m definitely curious, you know?
I found out that in French, astrology is called “astrologie.” And if you ever want to ask someone about their sign, you just say, “Quel est ton signe astrologique?” Easy enough, right?
Then, I dove into this table I found that lists all the zodiac signs in French with their English translations and dates. It was pretty interesting to see the names. For example, Aries is “Bélier,” and Taurus is “Taureau.” They had all twelve of them listed out.
- Bélier (Aries)
- Taureau (Taurus)
- Gémeaux (Gemini)
- Cancer (Cancer)
- Lion (Leo)
- Vierge (Virgo)
- Balance (Libra)
- Scorpion (Scorpio)
- Sagittaire (Sagittarius)
- Capricorne (Capricorn)
- Verseau (Aquarius)
- Poissons (Pisces)
I also learned that the Babylonians were the ones who divided the zodiac into 12 signs way back around 500 BCE. Each sign is supposed to have its own characteristics. I read somewhere that there are other types of zodiacs too, like the Chinese and Native American ones, but this time I decided to stick with the French version for now.
I spent a good chunk of time looking at each sign and what it means. It’s like each one has its own personality, which is pretty cool.
I saw that someone made a quick 5-minute lesson online to learn the French zodiac signs, promising it would feel like a trip to France and back. I might give that a try later.
It was a fun little exploration into French astrology signs. I’m not sure if I fully buy into it all, but it’s definitely interesting to learn about. I feel like I understand a bit more about it now.
So that’s my little adventure into the world of “les signes du zodiaque.” It was a casual deep dive, and I enjoyed connecting the dots between the French and English terms. Maybe next time, I’ll check out one of those other zodiac systems!
