Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this idea for a while now, and I finally decided to just go for it. I’m calling it the “Steampunk Tarot Book,” and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
First off, I gathered a bunch of references. I mean, a TON. I looked at traditional tarot decks, you know, the classic Rider-Waite stuff, just to get a feel for the core meanings of each card. It was essential that each card could make sense.
Then came the fun part – the steampunk brainstorming! I started jotting down ideas for each card, thinking about how to translate those traditional meanings into a steampunk setting. It was important that each card had beautiful artwork that could capture the essence of the steampunk genre.
The whole process was like putting together a giant, intricate puzzle. I spent days, maybe even weeks, just sketching and planning. Gears, goggles, Victorian-era gadgets – you name it, I tried to incorporate it. For each card, I also created a specific character and scene that captures its meaning within the steampunk universe.
After I had a solid concept for each card, I started working on the actual artwork. I mainly used digital painting because it’s just easier for me to make changes and experiment with different styles. This stunning tarot deck is based on the wildly popular steampunk genre.
Finally, I’m putting it all together in a book format. You’ll find the illustration for each card, along with a detailed description of its meaning and symbolism, but all written in a way that fits the steampunk theme. In the end, I created a 78-card tarot deck that blends the timeless beauty of steampunk’s retrofuturistic technology and aesthetic with the tarot’s insightful ability to make sense.
It’s been a ton of work, but I’m really excited about how it’s turning out. I think it’s going to be something really special, something that both tarot enthusiasts and steampunk fans can appreciate. I’m still tweaking a few things here and there, but I can’t wait to share the finished product with everyone!
