Alright, let’s talk about getting rid of tarot cards. I’ve had this deck for a while now, and it’s just not doing it for me anymore. So, I went through the whole process, and figured I’d share what I did.
Figuring Out What to Do
First off, I had to decide what to do with these cards. I mean, I couldn’t just toss them in the trash, right? That felt wrong. So, I thought about my options. I could give them away, try to sell them, or maybe find a way to dispose of them properly.
Giving Them Away
I thought about giving them to a friend, but I wasn’t sure if anyone I knew was into tarot. Then I remembered my cousin used to be curious about this stuff. I called her up, and she was pretty excited about the idea. I packed them up and send them her way.
Selling Them
If my cousin hadn’t been interested, I probably would have tried to sell them. I’ve seen people selling used decks online, so I figured I could do that. I cleaned the cards, took some nice pictures, and was about to list them but then my cousin called back.
Respectful Disposal
If selling didn’t work out, I had a backup plan. I read somewhere that you could burn or bury the cards. I liked the idea of burning them. I gathered the cards, went to my backyard, and made a small fire in my fire pit. I watched the cards burn and turned my back to the fire, letting go of any attachment. Then I just scattered the ashes.
Burying them was another option. I could have just dug a hole in the garden and buried them there. But burning felt more, I don’t know, ceremonial?
Recycling, I Guess?
I also thought about recycling them. I mean, they’re just paper, right? But something about that didn’t feel right to me. I wanted to do something more meaningful. But if you’re just looking to get rid of them, I guess you could just recycle them like any other paper product.
Spiritual Stuff
Now, if you’re into the spiritual side of tarot, you might do things a bit differently. Some people say you should shuffle the cards until you feel it’s time to stop. I’ve done that before, and it’s a nice way to say goodbye to the deck. But this time, I didn’t feel the need to do all that.
What the Bible Says
Someone asked me about what the Bible says about tarot cards. Well, it doesn’t say anything directly because tarot cards weren’t around back then. But it does warn against fortune-telling and stuff like that. So, if you’re religious, you might want to think about that.
So yeah, that’s how I got rid of my tarot cards. It was a bit of a process, but I feel good about how it went. Whether you give them away, sell them, burn them, or bury them, just do what feels right to you.
