Okay, so I wanted to figure out how to use regular playing cards to do tarot readings, you know? Here’s how it went down.
First, I grabbed a standard deck of cards. You know, the kind you use for poker or whatever. Then I did a bit of digging around to see how these cards match up with actual tarot cards. Turns out, it’s pretty straightforward.
I learned that hearts are like cups in tarot, spades are like swords, diamonds are like pentacles, and clubs are like wands. Makes sense, right? Then, for the number cards, it’s easy. Ace is like the number one in tarot, two is like the number two, and so on, all the way up to ten.
Matching Everything Up
Now, for the face cards – Jack, Queen, King – I figured they’re kinda like the people you’d see in tarot. Like, a King of Hearts could be a really loving, compassionate dude, while a Queen of Spades might be a sharp, no-nonsense kind of lady. You get the idea.
I did need to clear my mind before I started reading, just focus on the person I was reading for and how they felt. Cluttered thoughts make it way harder to get a good reading.
The Joker Situation
And then there’s the Joker. I decided to treat it like “The Fool” card in tarot. It’s kinda like a wild card, representing new beginnings, taking chances, that sort of thing.
Putting It All Together
Once I had all that sorted, I started doing some practice readings. I’d shuffle the cards, think about a question or situation, and then lay them out in a simple spread. I mostly used a three-card spread – past, present, future. It’s basic, but it works.
I started by doing readings for myself. Just little things, like “What should I focus on today?” or “How will this meeting go?” Then I tried it out on a couple of friends. They were kinda skeptical at first, but they were surprised by how accurate the readings seemed.
Still Learning
Honestly, I’m still figuring this whole thing out. It’s not exactly the same as using a real tarot deck, but it’s pretty darn close. And it’s a fun way to practice and get a feel for the meanings of the cards.
So yeah, that’s my experience with using playing cards for tarot readings. It’s been a cool little experiment, and I’m definitely gonna keep practicing. Maybe one day I’ll even get a proper tarot deck, but for now, this works just fine.
