Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these motorcycle clubs, the kind they call “outlaw” clubs. You got yer Hells Angels, been around forever, seems like. Started way back in California, Fontana, to be exact. Nineteen forty-eight, that was. A long, long time ago.
These Hells Angels fellas, they ain’t no choir boys, that’s for sure. They got chapters all over the world, hundreds of ‘em. Big, big group, they are. And they got supporters too, folks who ain’t members but like what they do, like their “philosophy of life,” as they call it. Even got a number, 81, for them supporters. Don’t ask me why, I ain’t got a clue.
- Hells Angels are a big deal, been around a long time.
- Lots of chapters all over, even in other countries.
- Got supporters, people who like ’em but ain’t members.
Now, there’s other clubs too. Bondslaves MC, they’re a Christian club, outta Canada. Only ride American bikes, Harleys and such. Been around since 1989, so not as old as the Hells Angels, but still a while. They wear a “3-Piece patch,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy.
And then there’s the Mongols, the Bandidos, the Outlaws, Sons of Silence, the Pagans… lots of ‘em. They fight with each other sometimes, over territory and members. Like a bunch of dogs fightin’ over a bone, if you ask me. The Hells Angels, they’re always in the mix, fightin’ or causin’ trouble one way or another. They say some of ‘em are mixed up in organized crime, sellin’ drugs and such. I ain’t surprised.
Heard tell of a fella, Jay Dobyns, he went undercover with the Hells Angels for a couple of years. Brave fella, or maybe just crazy. Imagine livin’ with them fellas, day in and day out. Gotta be careful, that’s for sure. They ain’t the kind you wanna mess with.
Some fellas join these clubs, then they leave. Like that Zito fella, he was in the Hells Angels for 25 years, then quit to be an actor. Said he left “in good standing,” whatever that means. Maybe he just got tired of the rough life, or maybe he saw somethin’ he didn’t like. Who knows? These clubs, they got their own rules, their own ways of doin’ things.
And they’re everywhere. You got these Angels, they got clubs in all sorts of countries, even places like Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Spain, Sweden. They got influence, these clubs do. Help set up other clubs, “support clubs” they call ‘em. Like Devils Choice MC and Iron Workers MC. It’s a whole network, a whole world of these motorcycle clubs. Hard to keep track of ‘em all, to be honest.
Some folks, they study these clubs. Do interviews with the members, try to figure out what makes ‘em tick. Like those Dutch Hells Angels, someone was talkin’ to them. Tryin’ to understand ‘em, I guess. Me, I just stay outta their way. They ain’t the kind of folks you wanna cross, that’s for sure. They cause trouble and fight with other clubs. And there was this Happy Lowman fella, he was in a show, “Sons of Anarchy.” He was a real Hells Angel, or so they say. Played a tough guy in the show, just like in real life, I reckon.
So that’s the story, as best as I can tell ya. These motorcycle clubs, they’re a rough bunch, always been that way. Hells Angels, Bondslaves, Mongols, and all the rest… they’re out there, ridin’ their bikes, livin’ by their own rules. Best to just leave ‘em be, I say. Nothin’ good comes from messin’ with them.
