Okay, so the other day, I decided to mess around with tarot cards. I’ve always been kind of curious about them, you know, seeing them in movies and stuff. So, I went ahead and got myself a deck online.
When the cards arrived, I ripped open the package and started looking at them. They’re pretty cool, with all these different pictures and symbols. The deck came with a little guidebook, which was helpful. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just familiarizing myself with the different cards and their supposed meanings.
First Attempts
After I felt like I had a basic understanding, I decided to try a simple reading on myself. I shuffled the deck while thinking about a general question about my life, then I laid out three cards in a row. This was supposed to represent my past, present, and future.
- The Past Card: The first one was The High Priestess, which the book said means intuition and hidden knowledge. Kind of made sense, I guess, considering I’ve always trusted my gut feelings.
- The Present Card: Next up was the Queen of Cups. Apparently, this card is all about compassion and emotional intelligence. I can relate to that, as I consider myself a supportive friend.
- The Future Card: The last card was The Tower, which, honestly, looked a bit scary. It showed a building being struck by lightning. The guidebook talked about sudden change and upheaval. Not exactly what I wanted to see, but hey, it’s just a card, right?
Trying Different Spreads
I didn’t stop there. I found some other card layouts online, like the “Safe Passage Spread,” which is supposed to be for people on a journey. I tried that one too, drawing cards for different aspects of my “quest.” It was interesting to see how the meanings of the cards could be interpreted in different ways depending on the spread.
Keeping a Journal
One thing I started doing was keeping a tarot journal. I wrote down the date, the question I was asking, the spread I used, and the cards that came up. I also jotted down my initial thoughts and interpretations. It’s kind of like a diary, but for my tarot readings. It’s been helpful for tracking my progress and seeing how my understanding of the cards evolves.
Still Learning
I’m definitely no expert, but I’m having fun learning about tarot. It’s a cool way to reflect on things and maybe get a different perspective on life. I’m not sure if I believe in the fortune-telling aspect of it, but I do think it can be a useful tool for self-discovery. I’m going to keep practicing and see where it takes me.
