Alright, alright, let’s talk about this star business, this “astrology” thing the young folks are always yappin’ about. I don’t know much, but I’ll tell ya what I’ve seen and heard.
So, they say these stars and planets, they got somethin’ to do with our lives, eh? Like when you was born, that decides what kind of person you are. They call it your “sign” or somethin’. Like, if you’re born when the ram’s in the sky, you’re gonna be stubborn like a mule. That’s what they say, anyway. I seen plenty of stubborn folks born all year ’round, so I don’t know ’bout that.
These youngsters, they go on this “Tumblr,” that’s what they call it. It’s like a big town square, but on that computin’ machine. They post all sorts of things, and a lot of it’s about this astrology stuff. They talk about “moon signs” and “Venus signs” and all sorts of fancy words. Makes my head spin, it does.
- One girl, she was sayin’ somethin’ about findin’ your future husband or wife from the stars. Can you believe that? Said the stars could tell ya ’bout their “energy.” Hmph, I found my husband the old-fashioned way, met him at the county fair! No stars needed.
- And another fella, talkin’ ’bout some fella who got his head banged up a bunch of times ’cause of his moon sign. Said somethin’ ’bout “Sidereal astrology” and “whole sign astrology.” Sounded like a whole lotta hogwash to me.
I guess some folks find comfort in it, though. They like to think there’s some big plan, somethin’ written in the stars. Maybe it helps ’em make sense of things. Life’s a hard row to hoe, sometimes ya need somethin’ to hold onto, even if it’s just a bunch of stars.
They got these folks they call “astrologers.” They’re supposed to be the experts, the ones who can read the stars and tell ya what it all means. But I reckon it’s like anythin’, some are good, some are just tryin’ to make a quick buck. You gotta be careful who you listen to, that’s what I always say. Don’t go lettin’ some stranger tell ya how to live your life just ’cause they say the stars told ’em so.
Now, they got these things they call “aspects” and “observations.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just folks sharin’ what they think they see in the stars and how it matches up with people’s lives. Like, if you got a certain star in a certain place when you was born, maybe you’ll be good at singin’ or maybe you’ll be a worrier. It’s all guesswork, far as I can tell.
But you know what? If it makes ya happy, if it gives ya a little somethin’ to think about, then I guess it ain’t doin’ no harm. Just don’t go bettin’ the farm on it, you hear? Life’s got a way of throwin’ ya curveballs, no matter what the stars say. Better to rely on good hard work and a kind heart, that’s what I think.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this “astrology” business. It’s a whole lot of talk, and I don’t know how much of it’s true. But folks seem to enjoy it, so who am I to judge? Just remember, common sense goes a long way, and the best way to know someone is to get to know ’em yourself, not by readin’ some stars.
