Okay, so, I recently got into this whole tarot thing, and let me tell you, the Mary-el Tarot deck? It’s something else. I mean, I’ve dabbled with other decks before, but this one just hit different, you know?
So, the first thing I did was just hold the cards, feel their weight. They’re based on the Tarot de Marseille, whatever that means. It’s got the usual 22 Major Arcana cards, plus the Fool card which doesn’t have a number, and then 56 Minor Arcana cards. I laid them out, just to get a sense of the order.
Next, I started flipping through them, one by one. Each card is like a mini-masterpiece. I read somewhere that this is the second edition, and the artist added four new paintings. Honestly, they’re all stunning, but a little overwhelming at first glance. There are many symbols.
Then I dug into the guidebook. That thing is thick! I learned the Empress card is number three and it’s all about creativity and growth. Kind of cool, right? Then I read that the World card, number 21, means success and change. I’m still not sure about the “reversed” meanings, but it’s something about being stuck, I guess.
After that, I tried to do a simple reading for myself. I picked three cards, just to see what would happen. It was… interesting. The cards were The Empress, The Fool, and something else I can’t remember. I think I need to study the guidebook some more. I just tried to understand all of these traits. She’s offering love and safety. I understood it’s my time to be creative.
So, that’s where I’m at with the Mary-el Tarot. I’m totally hooked, but also totally confused. There are so many symbols and layers. I found a forum post online where someone was asking for help deciphering it all. I think I’m going to check that out. My next step is probably to do more readings, for myself and maybe for friends. We’ll see how it goes. This deck feels like a journey, and I’ve only just taken the first step.
- Flipping through the cards to admire the artwork.
- Reading the guidebook to learn the basic meanings.
- Attempting a simple reading for myself.
- Researching online to better understand the symbolism.
Current feelings:
Intrigued, overwhelmed, excited to learn more.
