Alright, so yesterday I got this idea to mess around with tarot cards. I’ve seen them around, you know, those mystical-looking cards that some people swear can tell your future. I mean, I’m not sure I buy all that, but they seemed kinda cool, and I figured, why not give it a shot?
So, I went online and did some digging about what tarot cards even are. Turns out they’ve been around for ages, like since the 1400s! People used them to play games back then, not so much for telling fortunes. But nowadays, that’s mainly what folks use them for. I found this deck called the “Medieval Scapini” tarot, and the artwork on them is pretty awesome—lots of medieval imagery and symbols. I thought they looked rad, so I ordered a deck.
While I was waiting for them to arrive, I did some more reading. Apparently, there are a bunch of ways to do tarot readings. The simplest way is just to pull one card and see how it applies to your life right now. That sounded easy enough for a beginner like me.
Getting Started
- Ordered a Medieval Scapini tarot deck online because the artwork looked cool.
- Read up on tarot and learned it’s been around since the 15th century.
- Decided to start with simple one-card readings.
When the deck finally arrived, I was pretty stoked. I cleared off my desk, shuffled the cards—man, they’re bigger than I expected!—and pulled my first card. It was some dude holding art supplies and standing on a ladder, labeled as “Self portrait (Scapini)”.” I was told that this one is like a self-portrait of the guy who made the deck, Scapini. So, I sat there staring at this card, trying to figure out what it was trying to tell me. It was a bit weird, to be honest.
First Reading
- Received the tarot deck and shuffled the cards.
- Pulled my first card: Self portrait (Scapini).
- Contemplated the card’s meaning, felt a bit weird.
I did this a few more times, pulling a different card each time. Some of them had obvious meanings, like there’s one with a couple hugging, which I guess is about love and relationships. Others were more confusing, like this one with a guy hanging upside down—no clue what that’s supposed to mean.
More Readings
- Pulled more cards and tried to interpret their meanings.
- Found some cards easy to understand, others confusing.
After messing around with the cards for a while, I decided to look up the actual meanings online. Turns out, each card has a whole bunch of interpretations, depending on the context and who you ask. The “Self portrait (Scapini)” card, for example, is supposed to be about creativity and self-expression. The hanging guy, which is called “The Hanged Man,” is about seeing things from a different perspective. Okay, that makes a little more sense now.
Researching Meanings
- Looked up the official meanings of the cards online.
- Learned that each card has multiple interpretations.
- Gained a better understanding of the cards I pulled.
So, yeah, that was my little adventure with tarot cards. I don’t know if I’m any closer to knowing my future or anything, but it was definitely an interesting experience. I might keep pulling cards now and then, just to see what comes up. Who knows, maybe there’s something to this whole tarot thing after all. Or maybe it’s just a fun way to look at cool artwork and think about life. Either way, I’m glad I gave it a try.
I should also mention that while reading about the tarot, I learned that the Bible doesn’t say anything about them. Makes sense since the Bible is way older than tarot. But it does warn against trying to tell the future, so I guess that’s something to keep in mind. I’m not sure if what I’m doing counts, but I’m not taking it too seriously anyway.
