Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get into tarot reading for a while now. I finally took the plunge and bought myself a deck. The one I ended up going with is called the “Modern Hue Tarot” deck. I’d heard some good things about it online, and honestly, the name just kind of grabbed me. Plus, I liked the idea of a modern take on the traditional tarot, you know?
So I ordered it, it showed up after a while and I’ve been trying to learn since then. I didn’t really know where to start, but the deck came with a little guidebook. It’s pretty thick, like 194 pages or something, so that’s been helpful. I ripped open the package, and the first thing I did was just shuffle through the cards.
I started by reading through the guidebook, trying to get a feel for the different cards and their meanings. It’s a lot to take in, all these different symbols and interpretations. But I’m taking it slow, trying to learn a few new cards each day. I also looked at the pictures, which I guess are based on some older deck, the Rider-Waite thing. I don’t know anything about that, but I guess it’s a classic.
- Major Arcana: This is the first thing I tackled. These are like the big-deal cards, the ones that supposedly represent major life events and themes. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to memorize their names and basic meanings.
- Minor Arcana: After that, I moved on to these. They’re a bit more specific, divided into four suits, like regular playing cards. Each suit has its own vibe, and then the number cards all have their own meanings too. It’s a lot!
Once I felt like I had a decent grasp of the basics, I started trying to do some simple readings for myself. I’d shuffle the cards, think about a question or situation, and then draw a few cards to see what they said. I used the guidebook to help me interpret them, obviously. I wasn’t expecting any miracles, but it was kind of fun to see what came up.
The first few times, it was mostly just confusing. But as I’ve gotten more familiar with the cards, I’ve started to see some patterns and connections. It’s like the cards are telling a story, and I’m slowly learning how to read it. I’m still a total beginner, but I’m enjoying the process. I do a few readings a week now, just for practice. And I’m starting to see how this could actually be a useful tool for self-reflection and maybe even a little bit of guidance.
I am feeling good about the progress I made and am excited to practice more in the future. I think this will be really fun.
