So, I’ve been messing around with this thing called “primal astrology.” Sounds kinda out there, right? But stick with me. It’s like, regular astrology, but with spirit animals mixed in. I guess it figures out what animal you’re most like based on your birth date. I stumbled upon this whole primal astrology thing, and let me tell you, it’s a trip.
First, I dug into a bunch of websites and articles that talked about this stuff. Some of it was pretty confusing, to be honest, but the basic idea is that it combines Western astrology (you know, like Aries, Taurus, all that) with Chinese astrology (Year of the Dragon, stuff like that).
Figuring Out My Spirit Animal
The first step was to figure out my own primal zodiac sign. Apparently, it has to do with your birthday. My birthday is June 5th, 2000. I’m a Gemini and born in the year of the dragon. And then boom, you get your spirit animal. Mine turned out to be the Owl, which is kinda cool. I always thought I was more of a night person anyway. Then you can look up what that animal means, like what kind of personality traits you’re supposed to have.
Checking Compatibility
Then it gets really interesting – you can check your compatibility with other people’s spirit animals. For example, I checked my compatibility with my best friend’s spirit animal. So, I typed in her birthday (September 17th, 2000 – Virgo and dragon, also), and her spirit animal is a Seal. Turns out, Owls and Seals are supposed to be pretty compatible, which, yeah, that makes sense. We get along great.

- My mom’s a Bear, and my dad’s a Wolf.
- According to this thing, they’re not the best match, but they’re still together after all these years, so what do I know?
Honestly, I don’t know how much I believe in all this, but it’s a fun way to think about people’s personalities and relationships. I mean, it’s not like I’m gonna start making life decisions based on my spirit animal or anything. But it’s an interesting way to look at things. It’s kind of like those personality tests, but with animals. It gives you a new way to look at things. And who knows, maybe there’s some truth to it.
I’m not saying you should go dump your boyfriend because his spirit animal is a Skunk or something (unless, you know, he actually acts like a skunk). But it’s something fun to explore. And if it makes you think a little bit more about yourself and the people around you, then that’s a good thing, right?
